"There are lives at stake, Sherlock!" John exclaimed, staring at Sherlock, hoping he was intimidating (although he knew that he wasn't). "Actual, human lives! Just so I know, do you care about them at all?"
"No, John. There is only one thing I care about." Sherlock replied, matter-of-factly.
"What, the work?" John shouted.
"No, you!" Sherlock boomed, and John was stunned into silence for about three minutes.
"What?" John croaked.
"The work is a big part of my life, yes." He admitted. "But you brought more energy into my life than Jim Moriarty ever could. I laughed, John. On the second day we met, when we ran after the taxi driver, I laughed. And I keep laughing. I had never laughed before I met you, John. You're the one thing binding my life together, and if you ever left, my life would be far too depressing for me to handle."
"I… I feel the same way, Sherlock. Life was too depressing and too boring. And then I met you. And life immediately went insane, barmy, dangerous and… beautiful. Sherlock, I…"
"I know, John." Sherlock whispered, standing up and holding John's hand, not at all awkward or trying to make it more masculine. "I love you too."
