Betaed by the talented JennMel. Any remaining quirks are my own.

Author Thingie: When I wrote this, it was with the 10th doctor in mind, and Rose was there, but somehow Jack was smuggled in as well...and the 'she' sort of became the woman in the spaceship/18th Century with the clock men going tickety tack...and the whole angsty left-alone-on-old-dusty-empty-spaceship thing? Never happened.

No warnings (yeah, I know, strange isn't it)

"I can't believe this!" They were staring at him, both of them, all big eyes and open mouths. It couldn't be that strange, could it?

"I seriously can't believe this," and okay, maybe it could be that strange, but hardly enough to warrant such reactions from both of them!

"Doctor, how could you!" And that's just nasty, because he really didn't have much to say in the matter, and it was kind of hard to say 'no', and besides, at the time, he had really, really wanted to say 'yes'.

"I thought those things were 'below you', and 'too domestic'!" Well, he had said that, but in all defence, that was the previous him! And, well, he had to do it some time, right? This body was so new, they couldn't blame him for trying to learn, could they?

"You stepped way over the line back there, you know. Way over." Or, maybe they could blame him for that as well.

He sighed, and held up his hands in a gesture of defeat. "What was I supposed to do, Jack? She asked me, was I supposed to turn her down?"

Two heads nodded vigorously, "Yes!"

He crossed his arms, and glared at them. "Well, I'm not that sort of gentleman; I won't turn a lady down like that! And besides, Rose, it's not like you ever asked, is it?"

Oh, snippy was clearly not the way to go here. Rose stepped forward, right into his face, and he could almost feel the sting from the slap sure to come.

"I should have simply asked, should I? Well, I asked the last you a dozen times, and all I got was the same 'stupid ape' comment! Besides," she withdrew, standing beside Jack again, "you said that body was new, so I didn't think you even knew the moves!"

"Oh, I think she definitely taught you the moves tonight, don't you, Doc?" Jack, always with the embarrassing, but head-on, questions.

He nodded carefully, cursing his sudden red face, "Yeah, as a matter of fact, she did. Quite brilliant at it too, she was."

"So, maybe you can try me next, then?" And suddenly he was nose to nose with Jack, the Tardis (traitor!) started to play a 32nd century waltz, and before he knew what was happening, his feet started moving to the music.

A little while later, he found himself with another partner, and Rose was laughing and smiling as their feet were flying across the floor. Forgive and forget, seemed to be the theme. He didn't feel like objecting.

And in between all the swirling, the steps, the dipping of various partners, he realised they'd been right all along. With the right people, dancing could be fun. Loads of fun. And maybe, later on, there would be, as Jack so eloquently put it...dancing...

Who knew what the future might bring?
