I always find a reason why I didn't put you first
It's not that complicated I know
I really hate it when you shake your head like this ain't gonna work
Maybe you'll never reap what you sow

Rube would never tell her that she reminded him of the first girl he'd ever fallen for. That would just make things awkward and he didn't want things to be anymore awkward for Georgia Lass, and being a reaper was awkward enough for anyone. Didn't matter how many times he'd warned his little group not to make emotional attachments to anyone, he himself was just as guilty as George or Daisy in that department.

The realization of who George had reminded him of had been hard enough the day that she'd been made a reaper. And each day - especially after his daughter's death - it'd been harder to separate the old connection to a life he'd lived so long ago. Still, he couldn't help overhearing the groups newest conversation as he sat apart from them enjoying his breakfast.

"Doesn't Rube ever remind you of someone?" George said quietly. "Like someone you've seen before?"

"Yeah, like Rube," Mason chuckled, which soon turned into a groan when George kicked him under the table.

"Now that you mention it, he does remind me of an actor in a movie I saw once," Daisy added, ignoring Mason's pain.

"Surprise, surprise," Roxy said dryly.

"No, it wasn't that. It was a Spanish fellow out to avenge his father's death -"

"Who was a six-fingered man?" Mason cut her off. "Yeah, yeah, I've seen that one too."

"It's The Princess Bride," the waitress said as she dropped off their plates.

"Yes! Thank you!"

"That's not what I meant," George groaned, glancing over at Rube's back. "He reminds me of someone else. Someone I think I knew a long time ago."
