A/N: Gee, I haven't written in a while, have I?
Happy Meal
It was late at night, around eleven thirty, and Morgan Galloway was sick and tired of her job. Being a cashier at McDonald's was bad enough, but she hated being stuck at the grease-infested restaurant so late at night, especially with its lingering smell of toilet water and the constant stench of burnt meat. There were only two customers in the place, one of them gnawing on his Big Mac like it was the last piece of food on Earth, the other staring out the window like a creeper, his cup of coffee untouched (he'd only taken one sip of the stuff, and that was about an hour ago, by Morgan's estimates).
Morgan wasn't the only employee on the graveyard shift, but the other two were busy tending to the constant stream of drive-through customers that continued to come through, despite the late hour. Morgan sighed and leaned against her cash register, the only eat-in-the-actual-restaurant cashier.
She was listening to her Ipod and humming along to the Balck-Eyed-Peas when the door swung open, and Morgan jumped, pulling out one of the ear buds from her headphones. A boy wearing a t-shirt with dancing skeletons, an aviator jacket, black jeans and combat boots had entered the McDonalds, and the room temperature had just decreased by a few degrees, the aura of the room turning dour unbelievably fast. The shadows seemed to cling to the boy, who couldn't be any older than fourteen. But the strange thing was, Morgan thought she saw a gleaming sword in the boy's hand, but when she blinked, it was gone.
Morgan's heart speed up and there was the lingering taste of fear in her mouth. Was she about to get held at gunpoint so that the parentless boy could rob the place? Was he going to vandalized the eating establishment, and get Morgan fired? These thoughts ran through the seventeen-year-old's confused mind as the boy approached her register.
He opened his mouth, and she flinched, expecting the worst.
"One Happy Meal, please."
Ah, that wasn't my best piece of writing…..*hangs head in shame*
