Confessions

Catherine walked into the break room, her black heels clicking on the lab floors. She was very nervous, the butterflies in her stomach fluttering madly. There was no reason to be, she told herself, but the self reassurance was in vain, I've known Warrick forever, it will be fine. Confessions had always meant pain and suffering in her past, and she could only hope this one was not like the rest.

"Hi," she said with a smile. She dropped it when she realized her surroundings. There was no one else in the room but she and Warrick. Which meant that there was no room for a suspended silence, he would notice something was wrong if she kept quiet.

"Hey Cath," he replied in his low husky voice, sending shivers down her spin. She watched intently as he brought the coffee cup up to his dark lips. The barely audible click it made as it was set back down on the table snapped Catherine back to reality. She made her way over to the cupboard and pulled out her own mug. Her face twisted into a frown as she filled the cup up with the coffee she found distasteful.

After taking the first sip she sat down in the seat next to Warrick and looked into his eyes. They are impossibly green, she thought. Their murky depths seeming to see right through her, as if they knew what was to come. Catherine closed her eyes and took a deep breath, well aware that her colleague was watching her.

"I have something to tell you, I'm just not sure of how to put it," she said quietly while averting his eyes. Warrick raised his eyebrow in curiosity. Catherine saw this out of the corner of her eye, but took a few moments to form her words. While attempting, she became distracted by the man. She found herself leaning, still in the chair, closer to him, but he wasn't moving away. With the satisfaction that he was completely comfortable she continued.

"I've been holding this in for a while now," Catherine raised her head and brought her lips closer to his until they touched. She paused in haste, waiting for a response. Warrick placed his hand on the small of Catherine's neck and applied a little more pressure on her lips. Catherine's heart was thumping; she was sure he could hear it. As his tongue slid across her bottom lip, begging for entrance, Catherine's body sent off millions of pleasure endorphins, and she allowed him.

After both their tongues had successfully searched every aspect of each other's mouths, and the need for oxygen grew stronger, the two pulled apart.

"Catherine," Warrick whispered, causing Catherine to smile. Her hands were still placed on his chest, but his had moved to her waist. As the reality of what had occurred set in for her, Catherine laughed at herself.

"I'm sorry Rick. I couldn't get the words out," she explained, thinking he only responded to the kiss, not actually felt the same. Warrick chuckled and pulled her closer. Catherine's blue eyes searched his green ones, finding nothing but admiration and joy.

"It's okay. I liked it better that way." Catherine smiled and slid her hands up to behind his neck and stepping as close as possible. She could now feel his body heat mix with hers as she lingered there, waiting for him to make the first move. As his mouth connected with hers once again, Catherine finally felt that she had made a confession she was proud of.
