"Shepperd!" Hearing Ronon's call, John turned quickly, taking another bite of his apple as the Satedan hurried forward. "What's Valentine's Day? Some of the women keep talking about it, but when I ask the guys, they get all panicked and run off." He gave John an odd look then, seeing the other man grinning widely. "What?"
Shaking his head, John led him forward, starting to talk. "I'll tell you later. As people currently without someone to spend the day with, like McKay, will tell you, Valentine's Day is a 'stupid holiday created by the greeting card and candy industries, in addition to the florists, to make us spend money to prove we care about someone'. For the rest of us, it's a day where it's easier to express our feelings of love...or friendship," he added as Ronon gave him a knowing look, "for someone special. Guys go out of their way to be romantic, to give a woman they care about something nice...usually in hopes that they'll get something nice back." He plowed onward then, ignoring Ronon's clueless expression. "You normally buy a woman flowers and chocolates for Valentine's Day, sometimes a small gift...jewelry, or a stuffed animal. That clear everything up," he asked then, grinning as Ronon nodded. "Good, because I've got to go kick McKay's ass at golf."
Starting to move off, he paused, hearing Ronon call him again. "Shepperd?"
"Yeah?"
"What are you getting Teyla?"

"Tell me again why you're taking me to my room," Jennifer asked, frowning at John over her shoulder as he pushed her along gently.
"Can't. Promised someone I'd take you there and not answer any questions," John replied, stopping in front of her room as she punched in the code to unlock the door, both of them peeking inside as the door slid open. He burst into laughter then, seeing Ronon standing there covered in wrapping paper and tape with only his head and one arm showing, a giant red bow tied around his dreads. Doubling over, he tried to hold himself up using Jennifer's arm, but failed, ending up rolling with laughter on the floor, while Jennifer howled into her hands, trying not to look at her 'present'.
Ronon just frowned at them both, looking rather annoyed. "What?"
