Hi everyone! So this is the first Klaroline fic I have ever written. It was just a random idea that came to me so let me know what you think! Thanks.
Disclaimer: I do not own The Vampire Diaries or any of the characters, they are the property of the CW and their respective owners.
Dearest Caroline,
If you are reading this, it means you are alive and well, a fact that I'm sure will cause celebration among those who care so dearly for you. It also means you are well aware that I broke my promise to you, and that I did indeed return for Mystic Falls. I could sit here and argue with you for an eternity on the justifications of breaking that promise. That to me, saving your life was far more important than any promise I have ever made in my life, but I'm well aware of your stubborn tendencies, and that not all the justification in the world would change your opinion on the matter. I will say, however, that I don't regret my decision in the least bit, and I'm fairly certain I never will. This world is a dark and horrific place; filled with monsters that do their very best to rid the world of what little light is left. I refused to let the only true light I've seen in well over a century die, knowing that I could have prevented. I could live the rest of my life knowing that you hated me so long as you were still around to do so. This world needs you Caroline, and I refuse to apologize for ensuring that it had you for just a bit longer.
However, I did have every intention of keeping my promise to you, and with the exception of this one incident, I do intend to keep it. I had a lengthy discussion with Stefan and we have agreed that my blood is necessary for your survival against werewolves, but my being in Mystic Falls is not. I have given samples of my blood to Stefan for safekeeping, should the need to use it come up again (As I'm sure it will given your reputation). It saves us both the trouble of travelling and it ensures that my promise to you remains mostly intact.
I wish you all the best Caroline.
Yours, forever and always,
Klaus
It's super short because I only wanted to write the letter that he left her, but let me know what you think!
