A/N Special thanks to Goldenstargirl for inspiring me to post this

Johnny was sitting on his couch flipping through the channels on his TV when the news told about a lunar eclipse and how everyone should go outside at seven pm and witness one of natures most beautiful miracles. He decided that he would watch it. Why not. The event made him think and he later put a new entry into his die-ary.

I once read something that put the moon into a whole new light. Sure the moon is the thing of poets. Its radiant beauty shining down over a perfectly still lake, crickets chirping, on a warm summer night. Its an object of terror, unleashing primitive fears of terrible monsters associated with the night. These monsters reside not only in our imaginations but in our selves, the insecurities brought by the unknown. The moon is a thing of wonder for anyone who has ever stared up at the night sky and wondered "Are we alone." But for the average man, the being whose sole existence is enveloped by their own world – a world that itself shows a remarkable resemblance to a reality much like our own, though dilapidated and perverted and grotesque, but alas it is the common view of reality and would have, if not for poets and philosophers, seized power as the reigning reality. For the average man the moon is nothing more than a part of the scenery. It never strays from its beaten path so man pays it no mind never stopping to think that Its sheer existence is a miracle that allows us to survive. So naive is man that on those nights when the moon disappears they celebrate. They celebrate change for the sake of change. they celebrate the false leaving of a celestial body with no thought as to what would happen if its heavenly departure was not false. Change for the sake of change is chaos only , if at all, a step above anarchy. Some call me a cynic Heckling people for appreciating the "beauty" of an eclipse but I call myself a realist, for an eclipse is no more than natures form of a snuff film.
