Coffee, Mai!
Naru rarely ever drank coffee, no; it was more like never actually touched it in his life, well, up to this point in life. Naru had remembered that back when Gene was still alive, he would stare at jis twin for drinking something so horrid.
"Hm? Noll, do you want to try some?"
"No"
"Ah…always with the quick reply…"
"How can you drink that?"
"How can I not?"
"It tastes horrible."
"That's why you add sugar and cream."
"It doesn't change the fact that it is disgusting."
Naru rolled his eyes at the memory, indeed he though it was terrible, but lately because of a certain assistant that seems to always get herself into trouble, he drank the bitter drink like it was his precious cup of tea.
Lin would watch as he downed the cup, and silently wonder what had come over his boss. Naru had volunteered to stay up for the night shift ('More like made sure he was.' mumbled the ex-monk) Lin knew it wasn't a common thing, but none the less he didn't say anything as he continued to type on his computer and occasionally glance at Naru who was bemusedly staring at the monitors.
"Hmm?" Mai picked up a cup that had dark brown rings inside, 'Coffee stains?'
"Mai,"
'Ah…here it comes…'
"Coffee…" mumbled the dark haired teen.
Mai was quite taken aback by this.
"O-oh, ok…" she scurried to the kitchen, right now, SPR was solving a case in an old house that an elderly couple lived in, apparently, when ever people took the stairs to the basement, they were pushed down the stairs and the door would be locked. The elderly man had met such a fate, and wasn't in a good condition in the hospital right now, the elderly women had allowed them to stay the night to try to exorcise the 'spirit' in which the woman had insisted was the problem.
'However, the problem is, for some reason, the 'spirit' wasn't anywhere near the stairs, there were no traces or any strange phenomenon in the house since we got there.'
Quickly preparing Naru's coffee and Lin's jasmine tea, she hurried quickly back to the base.
"Lin-san! Your tea!"
"Thank you Taniyama-san" Mai just smiled and nodded, "Naru, here's your coffee!"
Mai walked to her boss who was standing up, staring at a map.
Silently, he took the cup from Mai and began to sip the beverage, eyes once again fixed on the map. Mai blinked.
"Naru…I don't think you should drink anymore coffee."
"And why is that?"
Mai giggled, "Because, my head already reaches your shoulder."
Indeed it was true; the nearly 17 year old Mai was only a head shorter than him now.
Naru narrowed his eyes, "Is that a problem?"
"Oh, no! It's just that if you're not careful, I'll be almost as tall as you, coffee stunts your growth you know."
Naru didn't blink, "Impossible, you're almost 17, girls stop growing usually by 16, but in your case, you are not a normal girl."
"What is that suppose to mean!" she huffed.
Naru sighed and gently put down his cup, "Mai, tea."
Mai could feel a smile tug on her lips, "Hmph! Fine! I'll get your tea!"
Lin shook his head, they had obviously forgotten that he was still here, at least Naru wouldn't be drinking his coffee for quite sometime.
"Come on! Just try a little!" Gene urged his twin.
Naru just continued to glare at him, "No."
Gene sighed, "Sometimes, there are things you need to get used to."
A/N: First Ghost Hunt oneshot! Hope you enjoyed that, just some pointless work, again.
I'm used to writing Prince of Tennis fics and Tokyo Majin oneshots, though they could be called short paragraphs than actual oneshots, but they kind of seem long for a drabble OO what would that be then? Never mind, I'm just babbling again. Please read and review!
