Of Commoners and Kings
How do you explain? How do you tell them that it's only a crush, that real love is something much deeper?
She knew real love. She had been courted by kings and princes. How do you go from such a wondrous life back to the life of a teenager? All over again she had to face the insecurities, the heartbreak. So hard, so hard to watch the giggling schoolgirls, knowing that she was once so much more. She yearned to tell them, to tell anyone. She rejected the boys, the nervous, twitching boys, all dressed up in their best, hoping to steal a kiss. Those mere boys, could never compare to the princes she had danced with under the stars.
But eventually, she forgot the princes and the kings. She forgot the way they would ask for her hand, the sweet words whispered in her ear. And she turned to the stuttering love struck boys she had once considered herself above.
For now, they were enough.
