When we were children, every night, before we went to bed, our parents told us there were no such things as monsters. That nothing was hiding under our beds or lurking inside our closets. However, one day, we knew that our parents lied to us. Monsters did exist, but not in our closets or beds, but rather, in the depths of the sea and beneath the Earth. Monsters that had once ruled the planet long before mankind and even long before the dinosaurs, rising up to reclaim what was stolen from them. Earth's original and de facto kings and queens.

The Titans.

It was on the summer of 2014 when the existence of the Titans was revealed to the public; two creatures the government labeled as "M.U.T.O.s" left a trail of destruction through the cities of Honolulu and Las Vegas respectively. However, they paled in comparison to one Titan, a creature dubbed as the King of all Monsters:

Godzilla. A beast that had existed as the alpha predator of a primal era who feasted on radiation from a time where it was more plentiful and abundant than the current age. A living, breathing god in all but name.

The three monsters converged on San Francisco as their main battleground, tearing the city asunder until only Godzilla emerged alive as the victor and returned to the sea. After the 2014 incursions, mankind rebuilt the damage done, memorialized the dead and wounded, be it from being in the wrong place at the wrong time or through sacrifice, and moved on with their lives. That is, until two years later, a revelation dawned; Godzilla was only a catalyst. For in 2016, another Titan dubbed Nanaue emerged in the still repairing city of Honolulu, and they just kept coming; Anguirus in Sibera. Rodan off the coast of Mexico. Varan in Sydney. Zilla in New York. Kumonga in Hokkaido with many more following. And to make matters even worse, Godzilla had returned, only this time, it was clear he was no longer on humanity's side. For he had seen the damage done by humans to the kingdom he once ruled... and was not afraid to voice his displeasure.

This is the world humans are now forced to live in, under the shadows of GODS AND MONSTERS.

Note:

This is a soft reboot of the Monsterverse though it ignores Godzilla: Aftershock, Godzilla: King of the Monsters 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong with only these being canonical:

Godzilla Awakening (which was a pain to fit into canon seeing as it contradicts a lot of what we saw in the 2014 movie)

Kong: Skull Island

Skull Island: Birth of Kong

I'm also going to incorporate some of the more "out-there" elements of the franchise such as mysticism, the Shobijin, ancient civilizations, MechaGodzilla etc.
