Romanadvoratrelundar was sitting in her room. Wondering.
She hadn't really been thinking when she left the Doctor and decided to stay in E-space. She had been trying to run away from it all, escape the high council before they brought her back to Gallifrey and twelve lives of sorting paperwork. Trying to run away from him, too, before the Doctor did something they'd both regret.
And now she was stuck.
K9 wasn't exactly good company. She got him to research Christmas carols once, just like the Doctor would have done, but there was only a certain number of times that a robotic dog could try and sing 'Jingle Bells' before it got overly annoying. She had tried to plot a route out of E-space, with no avail. Hell, even a life sorting through dusty shelves had to be better than this.
She had almost resigned herself to living out her days in another universe. Not for the first time, she toyed with the idea of trying to find Alzarius. She could help them fly their ship. At least it would be something to do for a few years, instead of sitting here while a group of time sensitive creatures did…
That was the other point. She didn't know exactly what it was that they were doing. They just kind of sat there and stared at each other, talking telepathically in a language she couldn't understand. It had been a while since the Doctor had left, the telepathic circuits in the TARDIS no longer translated for her. All in all, there was very little here for a clever Time Lady like Romana to do.
She was surprised, therefore, to hear K9 speak.
'Danger, mistress! Incoming object!'
'What?' Impossible. There wasn't really anywhere for it to come from.
'Object entering gate to N-space, mistress'
And she'd… misplaced… that gate years ago, it had moved and she hadn't been able to find it. It looked like today was going to be an interesting one, after all.
'Where, K9?'
'Insufficient data'
Okay, maybe not.
And then it landed right in front of her.
Cautiously, wary that it might explode in her hands, she scooped up the object.
The notepad looked familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. What she could place, however, was the bright yellow sticky note attached to the cover.

Romana-
I thought you might get bored in your pocket universe. If you ever do, here's some coordinates to get you out again.
Adric managed to come up with these. He's gone now, like all of the others. The cybermen killed him. Nyssa and Tegan miss him. They might have hated him, but they still miss him.
Enjoy your time-sensitives.
From the Doctor.
P.S. No, I don't know how he worked these out either.

She flicked eagerly through the notebook. If he was right, then… Yes!
'Come on, K9! We're going home.' Home. The word sounded nice. It had been such a long time since she'd seen the halls of Heartshaven, stood in the panopticon…
Since she had left the universe, the time lords would think she was dead- no connection to the matrix. Seeing her alive would probably be enough of a shock to make a few regenerate.
Maybe she could run for president, just as a joke. A renegade for president. President Romana. That had a nice ring to it, actually.
Oh, this was going to be fun.
