The world of children is much crueler than it seems
The pain lies in the darkness where adults cannot tread
After the children grow they forget the darkness that plagued them
The world of the adults has many problems
It is easy to forget
The cruelty lies in scoffs and scorn on the playground
Are you different?
Is that okay?
Acceptance is something hard won and desired by all
No one is above it
As adults, can you recognize the darkness that haunts the children's eyes?
As children, can you recognize that your world is not as happy as you pretend?
I am both an adult and child
I had nearly forgotten what it was like
To walk the line between innocence and realization
My companions are constantly pushed over the edge and I always pull them back
They will fall into that realization one day
They will discover the shocking pain that living is
But not on my watch
For it is much better to walk the line than to cross it
Take it from someone who knows
