Charlie stared at the painting on the museum wall.
Then he turned his head sideways and looked again, just as intently.
"Charlie!" Amita admonished, slightly embarrassed.
"What? I don't get it!" Charlie complained. "Are they sure they hung it the right way up?"
Amita pulled him away from a small group of museum goers with a forced smile and planted him in front of another painting, far from the others.
"They're abstract art. They're not supposed to look just like anything."
"Then what's the point?" Charlie groused. "How am I supposed to tell if painters have any talent if they're not painting anything I can recognize?"
Amita rolled her eyes and Charlie looked appropriate chastened.
"I'm sorry, Amita. I told you I wasn't much for museums." He looked around briefly. "I just can't see anything here I can relate to."
Amita brightened all of a sudden and tugged on his hand. "I have an idea."
"What?" Charlie asked as Amita dragged him to another section of the museum.
"You need art you can relate to. Voila! Cubism!"
Two hours later Alan greeted Charlie as he walked through the door of the Craftsman.
"Hey, how was the museum trip with Amita?"
"It was great," Charlie said happily. "Say, do we have any books on Picasso?"
