"Cass, please. We need to tell you something. Please come here." Dean said once they had decided on a motel to stay at and what they should tell Cass about what happened to Meg after he left to hide the angel tablet. After about thirty minutes Cass appeared before the boys.
"What was it you wanted to tell me?" Cass asked. "Where is Meg?" He asked after noticing that she wasn't there.
"That's what we need to talk to you about. Before we left, Crowley killed her. There was nothing we could do." Sam said, knowing his brother wasn't good with this kind of situation.
"What do you…" Cass became quiet as the information sunk in. Next thing Dean and Sam saw was an empty space. Cass went back and found Meg's body. Gently picking her up he transported them both to the motel, laying her on a bed. Dean and Sam watched, upset they couldn't help Cass as he mourned. "I thought you were there to protect her? What happened?" Cass asked, voice almost breaking as he moved a lock of hair behind her ear.
"I'm sorry Cass. She asked me to go find Dean and you." Sam said, slowly making his way to Cass when Dean stopped him. Sam looked at Dean questioning without words why he stopped him. Dean just shook his head and the two watched Cass hold onto Meg's hand. No tears spilled from his eyes, but it was easy to tell he wanted to.
"You know, the last conversation we had it was about the last year, when you and Dean were in Purgatory. I met this girl and stopped hunting. Meg was amazed that someone actually got me to stop hunting. She said she was rare and special, like a unicorn. Then after she told me to go, she told me to protect Dean and her unicorn. She loved you very much, even if she couldn't say it." Sam said. Cass rested his head next to Meg's letting a tear roll down his face.
"I was wondering if I could talk to Sam in private." Cass said sadly, not able to look either boy in the eye.
"Yeah, of course Cass." Sam said. Dean hesitated before slowly leaving the room. "What do you need Cass?" Sam asked, puppy eyes in full force.
"Meg kept calling me Clarence. She mentioned it was a book and a movie. What movie is it from? I would like to watch it." Cass said, voice broken.
"It's from the movie 'It's a Wonderful Life." Sam said, placing a gentle hand on Cass's shoulder, hoping to comfort the broken angel.
"Thank you Sam." Cass said, looking one last time at Meg's body before disappearing.
