Tribble Troubles

A/N So while I was watching Star Trek 2: Into Darkness, I couldn't help but wonder. Why on earth does McCoy just have dead tribble lying around? Does he not know the trouble that they cause? This is what later occured...

OoOoOoOoO

"Khan's cells regenerate like nothing I've seen before and I want to know why." And with that, Dr. Leonard McCoy stabbed a hypo filled with Khan's blood into a dead tribble lying on the desk.

Why was a dead tribble lying on the desk you ask?

Flashback, one month earlier

"Look, Bones, I know I'm a pain in the ass, I'm always in trouble, and you probably have a million country metaphors you could use to describe me. Long story short, I'm sorry for almost getting us killed, but ya' know I kinda did save the whole planet. So I think its justified in a whole twisted way."

Jim fixed a winning smirk on his face as he looked at quite possibly his best friend. Looking at the ground then almost sheepishly, he thrust his arms forward holding a wrapped box.

Giving Jim a suspicious look, Bones carefully unwrapped the present. Inside was a brown ball of fur. "Is this a..." He trailed off uncertain if this was something he actually wanted.

"Its a tribble Bones! I saw this and thought about how grouchy you are in the med bay, and how this might make you happier!"

"Great Jim, you saw a ball of fluff and thought of me. How touching." Still McCoy took the gift, knowing that it would probably die in the next week or so. After all, you can't feed them without causing them to multiply at an exponential rate.

Imagine his surprise when that thing lived long enough that it had to be brought onto the Enterprise, lived another week or so, and then finally decided it had starved enough and died.

And was now currently dead on his desk.

End Flashback

And when that tribble resurected itself with Khan's blood, only one thing popped into his head. "Go figure Jim gets me the tribble most like him. The one that just can't die damnit!"

Okay guys, that's all. It was just a little drabble that pretty muh sat down in my head and refused to move until it was typed out. Feel free to review if you'd like.
