Hey yall-

Just, in advance:

The uncorrupted gems are gonna be characters in this and I even gave Peridot a friend that you're gonna see every now and again. Including this prompt. That... actually has to do with the central conflict in this one. this is post-CYM.

And also #cameo from Larimar (the sans-looking gem from CYM)

Week 1 Day 1: Confession

"What happened?!"

Peridot could barely hear Steven's fretful cry as she dashed as far away from the scene as possible. She felt a tinge of guilt for leaving her 'partner in crime' behind, but Larimar was powerful. She'd be fine. Peridot assured herself of this as she began to run on all fours, carrying the stone she'd been holding in her mouth. As she had been looking through the 'mall', she had found an object that made her feel sick. Larimar had shared this sentiment, and the two of them decided to take matters into their own hands.

Long story short: the 'gem' they had thought was trapped in some kind of necklace didn't appear to be functional. Peridot had used an amount of strength she hadn't even thought possible to free this gem; there was no way she was giving up hope.

"Come on!" Peridot screamed at the responseless gemstone once she was far away enough from the crime scene. "I worked so hard to free you! Please come out!" It unnerved Peridot that this gem was so... dead. Lapis had been stuck in an object for thousands of years, yet she was able to reform presumably immediately.

"Peridot!"

Peridot swiveled around to see Steven running up to her. "Peridot what did you do!?" he cried.

"Lick the gem, Steven! Give it life!" Peridot shoved the gem in his face.

Steven stifled a laugh. "...Peridot, that's plastic..."

"Oh." Peridot's face flushed a few shades darker.

"No but seriously, what happened back there?" Steven inquired. "I heard a ton of screaming and alarms going off, what did you do?"

"I..." Peridot absolutely hated admitting she was wrong. This time was no exception. "Me and Larimar were at the mall..." she began. "-And I saw this, and I thought it was a gem who was captured by humans, so..." Peridot took in a breath and sighed heavily. "-I tore it from its necklace while Larimar held off the other humans in the store." Peridot looked down shamefully. Now that she looked at it in more detail, she saw just how stupid she had been. It didn't feel like a gem at all, and it was far too light. It wasn't even polished.

Peridot was caught off-guard as she was enveloped in an embrace.

"Peridot! That was so thoughtful!" Steven exclaimed. "I mean yeah, you stole from the store, but your intentions were good."

Peridot let out half nervous and half excited giggles at the praise. The heat building in her face never vanquished, and Peridot chose to not question it further. The two stayed like that for a few moments until they were intercepted by a tiny gem winding past them. Larimar was running toward the shore, periodically throwing ice attacks at her pursuers; just some humans who wanted to play Samaritan.

"So... should we go back to the temple?" Steven asked, getting a shrug in response. he thought for a moment. "Hey Peridot, there's a sequel to the golf fighting game you like~" Steven announced. "But I guess you're fine just standing in the middle of the city..." Steven sauntered away causally, leaving a shocked Peridot in his wake. Not even a few seconds later, she was right on his tail.

And that concludes W1D1

well I mean

it could have been worse

couldn't really think of a not-generic confession plot

so

why not have a not love confession

honestly I just wanted to write about Peridot stealing a gem from a jeweler thinking it was an actual person lmao and then having to tell Steven and him being like "wow peridot u so nice" also larimar's here too because why the fuck not

also can we just talk about how Larimar is LITERALLY sans undertale canon

like holy fuck
