The gatherer of knowledge arrives.

The suns set slowly over Mirks old home on the planet britaniclapedius. He looked at the sunset and he smiled. "This is nice... just a shame my vacation ends tommorow." He whispered to no one in particular as he picked up his glass of mineral enriched sugar water and sipped it slowly. He sat thinking for another minute and got up, he walked over to the communications port and opened the main screen. He pressed a few buttons and the screen lit up, he smiled at the figure on the screen. "Good evening Boss, i know this may sound kinda odd... but my vacation ends tommorow and i was hoping you could tell me where my first real field assignment is going to be..." his boss narrowed his eyes and sighed. "Mirk, you really should stop working so much, it makes you seem too eager... but since you like to work so much, we picked up an irken energy signature on a small blue planet in the 76th sector, if this is anything like the other cases we've seen, we need you there ASAP to get as much information as you can before the armada wipes the planet clean." Mirk drank the rest of his sugar water and smiled widely. "I wont let you down sir." The figure on the screen nodded slowly. "I have faith in you mirk, you're the best of the new recruits, and we're pulling out all the stops for this one, we're gonna give you more equipment then you'll be able to use in a lifetime." Mirk was positively extatic. "Now it'll take you some time to get there, so we'll give you for review all the data they've been broadcasting into space for the past 50 or so of their years." Mirk nodded quickly and the figure on the screen nodded as well. "Good luck, and since i know you so well, before you even ask, yes you can start right away. I have a ship waiting for you with all the equipment and information you'll need to start. Have fun Mirk" He shut off the screen and quickly began packing. He finished his packing not long after and sprinted down to the hangar. The technicians patted him on the back and walked off as he boarded the Britania G-class cruiser. He sat down in the big comfortable captains chair and picked up the file folder with his name and rank on it. "Third-Silvet Mirk..." He said it to himself out loud, just to see how it sounded. He got a little shiver of giddy-glee as he picked up the small data-disc from the arm of the captain chair and popped it into the computer terminal in front of him. He took the data-link cord from the terminal and plugged it into the port in the side of his head, just behind his ear. He pressed a few buttons and the information began to download into his implanted knowledge bank. The mission statement in the data-stream was clear. Learn all you can about earth, save all information, return to britaniclapedia, no determined end date for mission... he closed his eyes as the ship started itself and began the long trip towards earth.
