Cowgirls Don't Cry by I have no clue who!

Will kept walking. His body was
walking in the line of slaves. His
thoughts, on the other hand, were
a million miles away...

"Can I shoot it?" Will asked egerly.

"If you think it's a good idea." Halt shrugged.

Will fell. The slave drivers started
towhip him. He cried out in pain and
quickly tried to get up. He couldn't get
back up, so they kept whipping. Finally-
thinking he was dead- they cut his
chains and threw him in the ditch. He
wasn't though.

Three days later, he heard horse's
hooves. "Whoa Abelard. Steady boy."

Will's heart pounded. He knew that
voice. It was Halt!

"They came through about three days
ago. Looks like someone fell and
they whipped them. From the iron
shards, they must've cut them loose and threw
them in the ditch." Halt said, to
noone in particular, walking towards
the dicth.

He gasped when he saw Will laying
there. He scrambled down the five
foot drop and rushed to his dying
apprentice.

"Will, Will! Wake up!" Halt said, still
in shock of the state of his apprentice.

"Halt..." Will whispered. "I'm dieing...
Aren't I?"

As much as Halt wanted to deni it,
he couldn't lie to Will. "Yes Will."

"It was fun while it lasted." Will sent
a faint smile.

"It was." Halt said, feeling something
trickle down his face.

"Halt... Rangers don't cry... Not
Rangers like you." Will whispered weakly.

Halt wiped his eyes angreliy. "Whoever
did this to you will pay." Halt whispered.

"Halt, I knew you would come. You're
always there."

Will stopped breathing. "No Will. NOOOOO!"
Halt cried.

Will seemed to smile. Those three words rang in Halt's ears. "Rangers don't cry. Rangers don't cry."
