He sits on the ferry as it bobs up and down on the water, heading downstream. There is no one else there, just him. He could stop the ferry, fight the current and go upstream. But he doesn't want to. Memories are a haze but he does know that upstream is pain. Pain and anguish and some small flickers of happiness. He doesn't want that. Downstream is the waterfall. The waterfall that leads to peace and that one person who matters most. He wants to go down the waterfall, even though he knows there is no coming back once he goes down.

He isn't scared like he thinks he probably ought to be. It's peaceful actually, this floating down the river. And soon, soon he'll be home. He'll finally be in a place where he actually belongs. He doesn't remember much but he knows he's never belonged. Not really. But at the bottom of the waterfall he will find peace. He will find acceptance. He will be loved. He longs for that more than anything.

A strong breeze blows from behind, forcing his hair forward into his face. And then he feels something hit, plastering itself harmlessly to the back of his head thanks to the wind. He moves a hand back, snagging the thing. The wind stops a second later. He brushes his hair back out of the way before staring down at the object. Bright blue eyes smile back at him. The photo of the woman stirs something in him, something he hadn't remembered. A reason not to go.

He looks at the waterfall a mere few feet ahead before turning to look back up the river, the way he'd come. He's so tired of fighting. But if he goes down the waterfall he can never go back. Besides, she needs him. He doesn't remember much but he knows he'd do anything for her. So he grabs the oars and starts fighting again, forcing his way up the river. Forcing his way back to her.

Belle is being hugged by Dove. She cries into him as the doctors flit around her husband's hospital bed. He'd flat lined a minute ago. She'd kissed him but it had done nothing and if the doctors can't do anything, he'll be gone. And after everything they've been through, after he finally got rid of the dark curse, it's going to end like this. "I'm sorry," Whale tells her. Dove hugs her a bit tighter as she sobs even harder. Everyone moves around, doing things in the wake of her husband's death. In the corner, the long sound is interrupted and a straight line changes its path.
