Darkness In Heaven

Prologue

I have been pitching this story to myself for a long time now, and now I think I might have a decent start. Just to clarify: I'm changing the events of the ending in two main parts….. one that Azula was never confronted, as she is nowhere to be found, and two, Aang defeated Ozai at the palace before he was to leave to become Phoenix King. Please review, since I could use the input on where my writing needs work.

How did I make it this far? I gave myself little chance of success, yet here I am, watching my triumph… and my ascension. He had played his part well, crafting the perfect ending to his 1st great work. The first of many…Aang, the last airbender on earth, avatar, and savior of the people, had defeated Fire Lord Ozai. He knew that the few that could match him where dwindling. Soon he would take his place, the one that had been denied him so many years ago.

He looked around him, watching the water-tribe princess, the girl that had found him in that god-forsaken iceberg a year ago. She had given him another chance, and thus would be rewarded with a choice. Her brother and the earth warrior, however, would not get the same choice. For them, it was his bidding or death. The earthbender, lost in her emotions, had already accepted what was about to happen, and had taken her place. Time would bear the fruit of her loyalty, if she had any at all. That only left the one who was not with them, the fire prince. He would not live through the night.

Katara, Sokka, and Suki cheered and embraced one another, looking at Aang, who had not moved since Ozai had fallen to the ground in a daze. Sokka opened his mouth first, saying, "Good work Team Avatar." He smiled as Katara and Suki beamed at him. "Hey Aang, are you just going to stand there and watch the Loser Lord?" Aang turned and looked at him, not with his usual smile, but a face of power, determination, wickedness, and lust. It shook the group to their core, the silent recognition that something was terribly wrong. "Aang, Aang! Are you alright?" a distressed-looking Katara yelled as she ran towards him. As soon as she came towards him, however, she was blocked by a large rock that jutted up in front of her. She looked around, expecting to find a Dai Li agent swooping towards her from the walls of the palace. What she found confused and distressed her as much as the way Aang was acting. There stood Toph, her legs spread and arms outstretched. "Toph, what are you doing?" she inquired. A moment or so later, the girl replied, "What I was commanded to do."

The throne room door opened behind them, and there stood Azula, dressed in a brilliant blood red lace dress, her hair streaming down her back in a long elegant ponytail. She gracefully walked towards Aang, giving no notice of the others around him. "Welcome, my queen." was all he spoke before taking her into his arms and passionately kissing her. He loved the feel of her lips, curves of her body, everything about her. She was his counterpart, but still she knew her place. It enticed him even more. "Everything is ready for your coronation, my king." she said in a soft, womanly voice. "Good, my queen of fire…… you have done well. There are only a few things I must finish before we come together as one. First, we see if we will be the ultimate union of air, fire, earth………. and water."
