Pain. The one word that I can use to describe what he had done. Not only did he cause me pain, but others too. He has manipulated us, and now we are all stuck, here, in an abandoned apartment complex right on the edge of a river.
I sat in a room with one other. I was scared for I didn't know what I could do, or what he could do. All I knew was everyone here was dangerous. Yet I never got how I, of all people, was a threat or a danger to others.
He was staring at me. I felt violated, as though he was tearing though my body searching for something. His eyes so sharp, making me scared to even dare look at him. "What's your name!" He asked, coldly. Yet I still felt a kindness in his voice.
"M-my name is Janelle. Why do you keep staring at me?" I think to myself that Carson put me with the one he wanted, that I had no choose but to somehow become friends with this man. "Why did he have to put us here? Were only 13! Or at least I am. Who are you? Why are you here?" As you can tell, I am confused.
"So you're Janelle, huh? Well I'm Ryland, and no I'm not 13. But what would it matter to you? I don't know why I'm here, but I think I know some of what's happening. I won't be dumb, and I'm sure you won't be either."
"No kidding. This is what he was telling me about. His "master piece" that Ill be apart of. I can't believe I fell for something like this."
"Well if you know something, would you mind telling me?"
"Don't you get it? It's a game! He is just using us, as game pieces. I thought… I thought we were friends, but I was terribly mistaken!"
"Who is his person you keep talking about?" He knelt down beside me, looking at me with perfect pools of blue. I was lost for words as I thought of what might be. He was beautiful, with his hair swaying, practically brushing my face.
I looked into his eyes, "Carson."
I could see him feeling something inside. "And is this really a game, or are you just saying it is?"
"It is. I don't know what kind but we need a plan."
As soon as I said "we", an intercom came on. You could tell it wasn't supposed to be in there. "Hello," I recognized this voice. It was Carson. "Now, Its around time for you to get ready. As you might notice, you are in an apartment with one other person. They are the opposite gender. You might want to get to know them because they are your partner, they die, you die. Now if you'd like a new partner," A shelf came out of the wall. It was loaded with weapons, gear and gadgets. "then you can kill your present one right now. Just grab a weapon and begin." That's when he left the intercom.
I stared over at Ryland, hoping that he wanted to stay partners. He looked over at me with a look of horridness on his face. That's when I realized, next door there was a loud, high pitched scream. The screaming stopped, and knew one person had just been killed.
"That won't be me in a moment, right?" I was scared for the answer but I knew it had to come.
"No. I'm not that mean. Come on, we have some talking to do. We should get some of the things here while were at it."
I grabbed a pistol and as soon as I did, I heard a "Bang, Bang, Bang." And there was a man standing at the door.
