Nat sat on the curb, watching the people of New York pass by. It was Christmas Eve and he was still in New York when his family was in California, singing Christmas carols around the tree. He and Rosalina were having problems. He looked up as a girl with blonde hair and sapphire eyes walked down the street wearing a white trench coat. Nat hung his head and stared at the black snow under his feet. He looked up when he saw a pair of white string up snow boots standing before him.

"Hi, what are you doing out here alone?" the blonde girl he'd seen earlier asked.

"No flights can get out due to the snow," Nat answered her.

"Well, why are you outside in the cold?"

"Cause we rented out our apartment," he murmured.

"Come with me," she said, extending her gloved hand. Nat looked at it for a moment, and then took her hand.

"Can I please open my eyes?" Nat asked as he and the blonde girl came to a stop.

"Yes," she said. Nat opened his eyes and gasped. They were in a plane, a private jet. "This is my dad's plane, he said I could use it today," she said with a smile as she took off her coat to reveal a beautiful red dress that was lined with white lace. "Can I take your coat?" she asked, extending her arm. Nat handed her the coat. She gave it to a man in a black suit and grabbed Nat's hand, pulling him to the tree.

"Where are we going?" he asked her.

"I'm taking you to see your family." She smiled at him as she sat on the floor. He sat down next to her and the two of them just stared up at the sparkling tree.

Over the next few hours they watched movies, sang Christmas carols (where he learned she played the piano), and danced. Nat wasn't sure when it had happened, but somewhere along the way he'd developed a crush on her.

"We'll be landing in an hour. Why don't you sleep?" she said with a smile. He smiled at her as he lay down. She turned to leave when he grabbed her hand.

"Just one thing," he said as he looked up at her. "What's your name?" She smiled at him.

"Serene," she told him. Then she turned and left, as Nat fell asleep.

When Nat woke up, he found himself in his California bed. After a few hours, he found out that he had been their since the 23rd.

"Nat?" Rosalina asked as she walked over to him.

"Yes?"

"I really don't want us fighting over Christmas," she told him.

"Me either," he said. Then he leaned in and kissed her.

"What they…?" Nat and Rosalina looked up to see a bunch of lights that made mistletoe. "Where did that come from?" Nat turned to look out the window, where he saw her; she was standing on a balcony. Her arms were out stretched and her fingers were moving like she was lacing a ribbon. Nat just smiled as he looked at Serene. She gave him a soft smile before she disappeared in a ring of sparkles.

"Merry Christmas Serene," Nat said softly as he leaned in and kissed Rosalina again.
