Chapter 1- The Meeting
I was driving down a dark road on a rather beautiful night. The stars glimmered everything was magical as if it were set up to be so perfect. I was driving to pick up my friends Hercules and Lafayette from one of their friends houses. I turned onto a street called Jackler Ave. It had big nice houses. I went further and further down what seemed to be an everlasting road until I saw a large brick house. Number 66, that was the one.
I walked up to the door, leaves crunching under my step, I went up to the door and gave it a knock. I heard someone come down the stairs. After a few seconds of waiting someone opened the large dark wooden door. This must have been Laf and Herc's friend. He was short, had pale blue eyes, long curly hair and so many freckles.
"Hello, you must be Laf and Herc's friend, they've told me some much about you! Alexander right?" he said with a smooth voice.
"Ugh, ya, hi they to-ld me a lot a-about you too and you are John." Alexander said stumbling over every word.
"Well come in I am not going to make you stay out in the cold." John exclaimed as he widened the door and ushered him in. John's house was warm, it smelled like cinnamon and there sitting on the couch, was Laf and Herc drinking Sam Adams.
"Hey guys it is time to go home." John told them as they wobbled over to the door.
"Thanks for having them I'm sure they had lots of fun even if they can't remember it in the morning. Ha!" Alexander said laughing.
"Ya, well maybe you can come over next time too. How about tomorrow?" He said with a smiling with his beautiful pearly whites. No, no, no you have a girlfriend. Eliza, you love Eliza.
"Sure. Well see you tomorrow!" Alexander said walking out closing the door behind him. He felt a rush go through him, he felt warm out in the cool fall air. He saw Herc and Laf rocking out to some music in the car, both of them sitting in the back seat of the car.
Alexander got in the car and dropped them off at their apartment building and drove. He continued down Lance Road onto Poche Street, past the orphanage and toward his small blue house. Alexander stood at the door for a moment, thinking about all that had happened that night. He closed his eyes imagining John, stop you LOVE Eliza.
He grabbed his keys, unlocked his small black door and walked inside sighing as he had has struggles with love before. But love was merely a word. Yet still powerful enough to hurt someone. Love is one of the biggest impacts on our life, 4 little letters.
Alex strode to his sofa and sat down. He saw a letter on his little glass coffee table. It read,
Dear Alexander,
I miss you very much. Your words keep me sane I know that I love you so I have decided to move to Manhattan to live there. My sister has offered me a place to stay now we will be closer together and we don't need to talk to each other through mere letters. I love you darling write back soon.
-Eliza
Her words brought him to sorrow. She loved him so very much, but did he love her? He lied down on the couch and tried to sleep but it took hours for him to finally sleep as his mind was buzzing and his heart was throbbing.
Alexander woke up still on his couch in his living room. Light shawn through the windows and everything looked untouched, as he walked to the kitchen he notice coffee was already brewing. He saw the dining room table set. When he turned standing before him was Eliza.
"E-Eliza," he exclaimed smiling "what are you doing here I thought you were coming in a few weeks or at least a few days!?"
"I couldn't wait," she said running to hug Alexander "I missed you. Laf leant me a spare key." Eliza was the same as when she had gone on her business trip for that year. She was helping kids in Africa and teaching them for free. She still smelled of lavender and she still had the same stubborn look in her eyes as she had the past years.
"I missed you too." he smiled hugging her back.
"Surprise mon ami!" said Lafayette coming from behind her with Hercules, the two clearly still a bit hungover.
He was supposed to be happy, he had his friends, he had his girlfriend but something was missing. He loved Eliza, right, but maybe he loved her as a friend… But he still loved her and breaking her heart would not be an option.
They all sat and ate breakfast together. Alexander put on a fake smile and acted interested in whatever they were talking about. He thought of meeting John today.
Once they'd finished Eliza said she was going to go catch up with her sister. Herc and Laf said they were going back to their apartment. It was his opportunity to go see John. 66 Jackler Ave. Alex knew where to go how could he forget?
He pulled into the driveway and got out of his car. He knocked on the door and there he was. John.
"Hey Alexander nice to see you come on in." John said in a excited voice. He looked cuter than ever his hair was tied back and his eyes were bright.
"Hi, thanks. I am glad you invited me." Alex said hoping he wasn't blushing. A tingly feeling ran up his spine and butterflies danced in his stomach, why was he nervous? Alexander walked in as John gestured for him to sit down.
"I'll be right back," John said blushing a little as he walked into his kitchen. Alexander observed the room, it had a hanging light and a large tv. The couch was so comfy, it was like sitting on clouds. Alexander notice a candle burning called lavender Eliza,Love,John he shut his eyes and opened them. The candle was cinnamon scented. "So Alexander wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Sure." Alex said as John sat down next to him.
After a few minutes they chose a old love story movie. John walked over to the light switch and turned off the lights. He sat down once again and began the movie. Throughout Alexander and John seemed to move closer and closer as if there were some magnetic pull, soon they were right next to each other.
The movie was at the point where they were professing their love, Alexander looked up and John was Staring at him, Alexander stared back. They were inches apart when John leaned in and kissed him.
The kiss lasted 5 seconds, John's mouth tasted of sweet honey and they just sat there staring longingly at each other. John had kissed Alexander… And… Alexander kissed him back. Alexander liked it.
"John" he said.
"I know you probably have a girlfriend I am sorry I just-"John began saying.
"Laurens I like you a lot." Alexander said blushing with a big goofy smile on his face.
"I like you more Alexander."John said in sweet voice making Alexander smile. They lay on the couch speechless watching the movie. Soon John fell asleep as Alexander spooned him.
"John, I need to go. I'll come back tomorrow after work." Alexander said in a whisper. John's face was so relaxed he saw one of his eyes open up. Those beautiful eyes.
"Ok Alex, promise me you'll be back," John said leaning up toward Alexander to kiss him. After the kiss John questioned Alexander again. "Promise?"
"Yes." stated Alexander as he got up grabbed his keys and walked to the door. "Always."
