Chapter 1 Night attack
Two bodies fell to the ground with a sudden thud. Blood was dripping out of their bodies as the bad guy ran away. It was going good until the two wanted out. Such a shame to kill good helpers these days but if it's the way to tie up loose ends. The figure ran through the maze of the alleys as he stopped to catch his breath. Shadow figures decorated the walls as the moon began to weep. Why did it come to this?
Everyone was gathered at the table as Hotch said, "Two more bodies were found and we're starting to believe there may be a serial killer."
"Each of the victims were people who served time for their deeds. There isn't a whole lot of connection between them but some of them were beginning to fall back into habit." Reid said, "If the killer is killing them because of that, it's most likely to be considered punishment."
"Even if they redeemed themselves, he will still look for his next target. He could also be delusional about something being related to his past."
"People find this odd since there hasn't been many deaths in their town so we'll need to be a bit careful." They got into their own cars as they went to the town.
Life is a fragile flame and it can blown out by breath. That saying alone was enough to send chills down any spine that heard it. However, this case was different from any of the human cases. While human cases handled human matters, demon cases handled more than spiritual matters. Only certain members of different police forces were allowed to investigate. Reid looked out the window of the car as he sighed when he heard, "Something wrong?"
"It's nothing."
"Reid, if something's bothering you, you can tell us."
"I know."
It was a little while before they met up at Inera Park where the empty silence greeted them. They split up into pairs as a cold wind blew right past them. Reid went with Rossi as they questioned friends and family. Both victims did time for theft and robbery but they didn't really talk to their families about it. What shocked them was the sudden deaths that were happening about every few weeks. They were aware of this as they tried to do good again. Reid sat in the car as Rossi talked to the wife since she was having an episode. He had seen a few people have episodes but he managed to handle them without a fight. The wife punched him in the face as she tried to calm down. People have tantrums or sometimes episodes to let out the anger that they've been holding in. He shivered slightly as he sensed someone near the house. The coldness hurt as he tried to locate the source but stopped when Rossi entered the car. He asked, "Something wrong?"
"Someone was here."
"What about now?"
"They're gone." The shivers he felt from the cold was more than anger. He tried to warm himself up as they met up with the others. The cold clung to him as he listened to the others' and what they learned.
Every victim had a connection only to the prison they were released from. However, they encountered someone a few days after being released. One of the victims, Clark, agreed to go to lunch by the stranger where an arguement happened. "How did he describe the aura around the stranger?" Everyone was stunned to hear that as Hotch answered, "Very cold and most likely angry."
"Something wrong, Reid?"
"Ever since we left Clark's house, the aura has been following us."
"Is it cold?"
"Yes." He could feel eyes burning a hole in the back of his head as they continued to exchange notes. The cold aura left as he entered his hotel room before pulling out a book to read. The case was already taking a toll on some of the friends. A few of them were able to name some enemies but the enemies were missing or still in jail. The team also learned that there were several demons who were known for terrible crimes. Some of the demons were killed in prison riots but there was one demon that terrified the others. No one really knew him but during one of the riots, he killed some of the prisoners to keep the in line. That was only time he ever interfered with a riot. His nickname was Death.
Reid fell asleep as the room began to darken. He stirred slightly as the nightmares came back. He didn't tell anyone about the nightmares because he didn't know what the team would say. Or how they would react. Would it hurt to have good dreams for once?
Author's note: I apologize if the chapter is a bit short or doesn't make a lick of sense. There will be more chapters. Reviews are welcome but only the good ones.
