Summary: Set 5 years after HTTYD 2. Now, after a pretty normal day, Hiccup's firstborn son went missing. What happened to Little Stoick? (A very fluff father-son story with an older Hiccup and gang who matured but haven't really changed all that much). Inspired by a pic on pinterest. I couldn't find the real artist, if you know who the person is, please tell me so I can credit him/her.
NOTES!
1 – There will be mentions of RTTE, but it's okay if you haven't seen it.
2 – The mistakes in Little Stoick's lines are intentional, he's only four and it's normal for kids to make mistakes.
DISCLAIMER: If I owned HTTYD, I'd be writing canon, not fanfics. So even though I'd love to have come up with this idea, I didn't, I'm just a fan.
Now, on with the story! Enjoy the reading!
Finding Little Stoick
This is Berk. It's a wonderful place to live. Except when it's on fire. Yes, the war against dragons is long gone, but they live here, so, accidents happen. Especially when your overprotective wife stressed her dragon and then the animosity between every one just escalated to a catastrophe.
The reason? I lost our son. Ok, not exactly lost, we just don't know where he is right now. But I'm sure he's on the island. I mean, no boat left the harbor today and he's far too young to ride a dragon, he's only four! But then again, he is pretty smart and he's seen us doing it over a hundred times… My heart squeezed in agony again. Anyway, he wouldn't have mounted a dragon and flown away all by himself, so he's gotta be here somewhere.
I looked around and saw Gustav just looking at the house on fire, amazed. I grunted before calling his name.
"Gustav, what are you waiting for? An invitation? Go get the A-Team to put all of this fire out! You trained for this!"
"Oh, yes, right. Sorry, but I was looking for Little Stoick… Kinda hard to keep up with so many orders… Fanghook!" He called his dragon that landed besides him and then they took off.
I rolled my eyes at his attempt to blame me for his lack of action. So typical… Some things never change, I guess.
Looking at all this chaos, I still couldn't believe how we got to this point. It all started this morning. It was such a wonderful and calm day that it's hard to believe it led to this.
I sauntered down for breakfast to find my beloved wife cooking and my son, Little Stoick, at the table, eating the eggs and bread in front of him. Even after four years, I still had to get used to calling my son 'Stoick' and not think of my father, despite them being completely different. My father would probably be twice his size, since my son looks as skinny as I am. And he also had red hair, Little Stoick, on the other hand, had brown hair with a hint of blond. He also had sky-blue eyes, just like Astrid and my father.
"Morning, Milady." I approached her and kissed her cheek.
"Good morning, Hiccup. You stayed up late again, didn't you?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I had so many things to work on… wait, how do you know that?"
"It's not even noon and you already look exhausted. Besides, Valka had to take Toothless for a walk and feed him breakfast while we wait for you."
"You should have let Toothless wake me up…"
"Hiccup, you need to rest. And don't worry, the village will be fine if you take a rest, it's not like it will explo-" I quickly covered her mouth. Little Stoick laughed, as if we were joking.
"Don't say it. If the twins hear you finish this sentence, it might give them ideas…"
She uncovered her mouth, laughing a little.
"They're not here, if you haven't noticed."
"You know what I mean…" I mumbled as she handed me a plate with food and I thanked her before I sat at the table near our son.
"Anyway, you should eat quick. Toothless will be here any minute and he'll want to fly with you."
"I want it, too!" Stoick raised his hands. "Please, Daddy, take me to a ride! You promised you would!"
"Yes, but you're still too young, Son."
"Oh, come on, Hiccup, I'm sure you can strap you both on Toothless and fly a little bit, just to make him happy. He's been asking for it for months. Besides, he's been on Stormfly with me already." She sat by my side.
"It's different, Stormfly can fly on her own, and if there's an accident, she can save you both."
"Hiccup, I trust you and I'm not asking you to do anything reckless, just take him for a little ride. You already spent 10 years practicing to fly with Toothless, accidents like that don't happen in years. And you need to spend time with him, too." She gestured to the boy who kept looking at me with pleading eyes.
"Oh, come on, I spend plenty of time with him…" Astrid just stared at me with a bored expression. "I'm starting to sound like my dad, aren't I?"
"Pretty much. I mean, he's trying to show you some sketches he did a week ago."
Little Stoick's eyes widened as he remembered them and stuffed the last spoon of food in his mouth before running to his room saying he had something to show me.
"Oh, Gods…" I sighed. "It's not like my father was a bad one, but he was a little… absent. I never wanted to do the same… Yet, here I am…"
"At least Stoick isn't as lonely as you were. I'm here. Valka is here. And let's not forget Sophie." The last one was our little girl, with only two years of age who was probably still asleep now, but she'd soon start jumping around with a lot of energy. Unlike her brother, she looked a lot like her mother, but with a darker shade of blond and my green eyes.
"I know, but…" I stopped when she bumped me on the shoulder and then leaned on me in a side hug before I could even ask what was the hit for.
"I know you want to be as good as a Chief as your dad, Hiccup, but you can't do everything. Berk's situation is different than that time and you're doing great. It's been five years and people are already used to you now and to live with dragons. And you're already used to be chief. I think now it's time for you to focus in other things, too. And I know you miss the forge and creating stuff. You can't compare yourself to your father, you're different and that's good."
"Thanks, Astrid. I don't know what would I do without you."
"Probably working until you have a stroke."
"I guess so…" I chucked as I rolled my eyes and continued to eat until Stoick came back running with a lot of papers on his hands. There were a bunch of pictures of all of us. "They're wonderful, Son. I loved them."
"Really? They're not as good as yours…"
"Well, I've been practicing for a long time, but if you keep up like that, you'll get better than me in no time." The boy was so overjoyed he jumped and hugged me. I did the same before he ran back to his room to put away all the papers.
"You shouldn't lie to him."
"I didn't. They were pretty good for his age, besides, my dad didn't let me practice much, you know, drawing was not a Viking thing, so I didn't have as much time as he'll get." The Night Fury's signature roar sounded outside. "And that's my cue. Will you train today?"
"Always. I'll just feed our little girl before giving her to your mother and then I'll train the new victims… I mean, dragon rider students." She chuckled.
Yes, that was Astrid. It still amazed me how she still had students. I stood up and opened the door.
"What about me?" Stoick asked. I looked at him and then at Astrid. She just waited me and he just kept with those puppy-eyes, pleading to take him. He must have learned it with Toothless, because I never could say no to that dragon and I couldn't do this now, too.
"Okay. I'll take you for a very short ride, but only after I fly with Toothless first."
"Yes!"
I smiled as I ran to find a very impatient black dragon waiting for me. I mounted on and as soon as he heard the click of my prosthetic connecting to the pedal, he took off. Every morning, I'd fly with him for at least an hour, after all, not only we needed this time together, but we also needed to keep practicing so we'd be ready if any enemy arrived. During the day and afternoon, Astrid would take him for a flight if he wanted and if I'm too busy to do so. And of course, we usually fly at night, too, sometimes, with Astrid and Stormfly coming along.
We twisted, turned and ended with some loops. That felt just so free, I could never get tired of flying. And we could stay in the air until noon, if I didn't have stuff to do and a promise to keep…
Toothless landed near our house and Little Stoick was outside, waiting eagerly to fly. He approached running and Toothless cooed, licking him happily.
"Come on, Son. Your turn." I extended my hand to him, which he accepted eagerly. At first, I had thought of putting on him my old riding gear and strap him to the saddle, but realistically speaking, if there was an accident, the best chance the three of us had was f I return to Toothless's saddle and maneuver the pedal…
I held his tiny waist with my left arm and held the handle on the other side and told him to hold the opposite one. Then, Toothless took off softly.
We glided over the village, watching the people walk around and wave at us. Little Stoick couldn't stop waving back until we went further from the island.
"This is amazing!" He yelled opening his arms to feel the freedom of the skies. I knew very well this feeling, with or without a dragon.
"The handle." I scolded, trying not to laugh. He was so like me sometimes…
He pouted as he held it with one hand, while the other petted Toothless's neck.
"Can you make me a flying suit, too, Daddy?"
"Not a chance. Your mother would kill me." Flying on Toothless with me was one thing, letting him fly alone was something totally different. Astrid didn't even like when I had the idea for the flying suit (and neither did Toothless), she would have a heart attack if she knew Stoick even thought about it. "Besides, you'd have to have a riding dragon first and you know you're not getting one so soon."
"That's so not fair." He crossed his arms.
"The handle." I scolded again and he sighed before putting the hand on the right place. Silence made the sound of the wind stand out. It was soothing to hear the wind's melody, buzzing in the ears. Little Stoick couldn't get his eyes off of the island, so big and so beautiful from the best point of view one could see. As we circled the area, his attention was drawn to the left side as he noticed me controlling the flight whenever I had to adjust to the wind or whenever we turned. "Toothless don't fly alone, right?"
"No, he doesn't."
"That's why you have to move the pedal."
"Yes."
His grin grew larger.
"Can you teach me?"
I laughed.
"You can't even reach it, Son."
"If I lean just a little bit, I think I can…" He stretched his left leg; sliding to prove me he could reach it. My heart almost stopped and I grabbed him with both arms to put him back in place.
"Don't do that! You might throw off Toothless's balance and we could fall." The dragon grunted, indignant. "See? He agrees with me. When you're old enough, I can teach you, no need to rush things. Besides, there are controls in the other side as well, so you'd need to reach both pedals." Little Stoick rolled his very blue eyes and whined.
"Mommy can fly as well, right?"
"Yes."
"You teached her?"
"You say taught, not teached. But yes, I did."
"But… Who taught you?" He corrected himself this time.
I smiled.
"Myself."
"But how did you know what to do if no one taught you?"
"With a lot of trial and error and a lot of falls. Believe me, they're not pretty."
"That makes no sense…"
"Of course it does. You just have to look at the right angle. I'll explain you later…" I chuckled as he kept imagined how I taught myself to fly.
As we returned to Berk, I could see the arena and Fishlegs training the new students. He spotter and waved at us. If my hands weren't busy, I'd have slapped my self. How could I have forgotten he had wanted me to see how the new students were doing?
"Let's take a look at the arena?"
"Yes!"
The Night Fury landed on the entrance and I dismounted holding my son and then put him on the floor.
"Morning, Hiccup! I see you're taking Little Stoick for a ride! Was that his first time?"
"Morning, Fishlegs. And yeah, the first time."
"In a Night Fury." Stoick corrected me. "Mommy took me once time on Stormfly!"
"That's great! Soon you'll be joining us in Dragon Training!"
"Yes! I really want that!" The boy jumped around and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Anyway, you wanted to talk to me, right?"
"Yes! I'm making some great progress with this new class. Come see it!" Fishlegs was so blissful he could hardly contain himself as he showed me the kids with their dragons.
Fishlegs was in charge to teach the children of Berk all about dragons. Their weaknesses, strengths, characteristics and how to take care of them before they could get a dragon of their own and usually, they'd start with a Terrible Terror and only get a riding dragon after age ten. Meanwhile, the kids also had classes of how to read and write with other teachers in the village.
When the children turned 13, they'd start having classes with Snotlout about how to attack and defend themselves on the back of flying dragons – yes, believe it or not, he's actually quite good at it. And of course, they also had to learn combat on land, which they'd do with other more experienced Vikings, and even Eret has been helping with that, along with tips on how to avoid attacks from professionals that hunts or traps dragons. The advanced level classes of flying dragons had Astrid as a teacher. I really admired the students that could endure my wife as a teacher; she could be a little… intense.
As they showed me the tricks they could make their dragons do, I noticed how Stoick was mesmerized and petting their dragons with affection. I guess he could be as enthusiastic with dragons as Fishlegs and I together.
"That's wonderful, Fishlegs. You're doing a very good job here, but I must go, now. Come, Stoick, I'll leave you with Grandma."
"No…" He grabbed my leg, which was what he could reach. "I want to go with you, Daddy. Just a little bit. I want to see what you do in your day."
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. I think I did that with my father once, too. He just left me in the forge with Gobber…
"You might want to hold the other leg." Tuffnut's voice sounded from above the arena. Ruffnut continued. "Yes, he can take this one off."
"Vey funny guys, if you haven't noticed, I can only take off from below the knee."
Fishlegs rolled his eyes and continued his classes as the twins laughed and probably started planning their next prank. I looked down at Stoick, still pleading to come with me. I ruffled his hair.
"Okay… But just a little."
His joy was visible in the big smile that appeared on his face and then we started walking to the village with me holding his hand and Toothless following us.
Little Stoick got bored pretty fast as he watched me talk to villagers and do a bunch of official stuff. Lunchtime at the Great Hall was a relief and quite fun with the company. Before I could continue my tasks as a chief, Stoick and I visited Gobber at the forge. He had a new apprentice now, Gustav's brother, but I was sure Stoick would want to join them there soon.
As Gobber was telling me how the things were going well at the shop with so many saddles to do, Stoick started pulling me by the hand.
"Dad, look! It's a baby Nightmare!" A bright red and yellow, to be precise. Must have hatched a few months ago, during Snoggletog.
"She's not a baby, she's a child." And though the dragon was young, she was almost as big as Toothless.
"There's no one near her, can I keep her?"
Gobber laughed.
"No way. Your mom would kill me."
"But she's lonely."
"You don't know that." I sighed and looked at my former mentor. "See what I have to put up with?"
"Oh, you can't imagine what I had to put up with… But I'll have so many interesting stories about you to tell Little Stoick when he can start working here."
"Yeah, great…" I mumbled and looked at my son again. To my surprise, he was already petting the young dragon. I quickly pushed him away. "Are you crazy? She could be afraid and hurt you, she doesn't know you."
"She's a sweetheart." He kept looking at the dragon mesmerized as he tried to hide his smile. I knew exactly what he was thinking about.
"And don't even think about hiding a dragon to train it."
"What? How you know?"
"I'm not stupid, Stoick. I did it before, remember? With Toothless."
"No fair. Why could you keep a dragon hiding from your father and I can't?"
"We were at war with them at the time and I was fifteen. Now stop complaining and do as I say." I sighed. "Where do you get these crazy ideas from?"
"The same place as his father's?" Gobber suggested, making his apprentice laugh and receiving a glare from me.
"Come on, Stoick. Now I'll leave you with Grandma. You've seen my day is quite boring…"
He pouted, but didn't complain this time as I pulled him by the hands to our house. Valka usually stayed there during the day to help us take care of our children, but she actually lived in another house now, since ours was getting quite full.
"Hiccup!" Mulch yelled when we were close enough to see our house. "We have a situation at the plaza, some Vikings are having a misunderstanding…" That could be translated to some people are trying to kill themselves.
"That's just wonderful…" I mumbled, sarcastically. I had to deal with stuff like that almost in a daily basis. I faced my son. "Go back home. We'll talk more later, okay?"
"Okay…" He said as he continued the path and I turned to follow Mulch with toothless by my side.
Later that evening, I came back home, exhausted as always, only to find out Astrid and Valka worried looking for Little Stoick and expecting him to be with me this whole time. Astrid came running and I couldn't even close the door.
"What do you mean he's not with you? I asked people where was he and they said they've seen him with you. At Gobber's, at the Great Hall… Where is he?"
"I left him here in the afternoon."
"What do you mean, Son? I was here the whole afternoon and no one came."
"But I left him just outside and then Mulch came running with a problem for me to solve and…"
"WHAT?" Astrid yelled and I backed away to the only place I had: outside. "Where is Little Stoick?"
"Hm… I don't know…" I gulped. "But I'm sure he's fine! He must be around the village, then. Or in the woods, I've always spent time there, he knows it…"
"He's only four! And it's late!"
Yes, she was right and I never stayed late in the woods until I was at least thirteen, but I wasn't going to tell her that. I turned and saw Spitelout walking away from the Great Hall and called him, ordering to get all the men to search for Little Stoick in the woods and the women to search around the village, the harbor and the arena. In no time, all the villagers were already working and yelling the boy's name.
I looked back at Astrid and she was a mix of furious and desperate.
"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third!"
"Astrid, calm down! I know it looks bad!"
"It looks bad? You misplaced your firstborn son!"
"I already have the entire village looking for him!"
"You should have left Stoick with me, Son."
"Mom, you're not helping!" And I tried to do that, we were so close! He couldn't have gotten lost in the way; he was probably just walking around here somewhere… Right?
"Wait, so it's true? You lost your own son?" Snotlout dismounted Hookfang, laughing at me. I didn't even have time to complain, Astrid did that first, yelling.
"This is not funny, Snotlout! And you should be helping, not making fun of it! You wouldn't like it if something like that happened to your daughter!" She commanded Stormfly to shoot at him.
The spines startled not only Snotlout but also Hookfang, who flamed up for a second and shot fire at the Nadder, who deviated. The problem with that was that Hookfang was standing too close to a house, setting it on fire. And the ball of fire he tired to shoot at Stormfly, it hit another house. Indeed we had a fire preventing system, but it wasn't really efficient when there were so many flames… That was when I ordered Gustav to put it all out with the help of the A-Team.
I ran my hands through my hair. This was so messed up! Did my dad feel like that when I stayed in the woods for hours?
Toothless nuzzled me, trying to calm me down. I petted him, as he smelled the air. "Thanks, Bud…"
The A-Team arrived again and started to put the fire out.
"Astrid, we're gonna find him. He has to be on the island. Hey, maybe Stormfly could track him down." She nodded. "Mom, stay here with Sophie, if he shows up, send as a Terror or Cloudjumper. Toothless and I will be… Wait, where's Toothless?"
"First your son, now your dragon? You're really irresponsible, Hiccup…"
"Snotlout, one more word and I'll…" Luckily, I didn't even have to finish my threat, because I could see Toothless approaching and he was holding my son by the clothes with his gums. "Toothless! You found him, Bud!"
I ran and grabbed Little Stoick in a bear hug. Astrid came after me and snatched the boy from my arms, telling him how worried she was. I caressed the night Fury, thanking him.
"Snotlout, make yourself useful and call back all the search parties."
"Okay, okay…" he mounted Hookfang and they took off.
"Where have you been, Stoick? We were worried sick!"
"I was with Ruff and Tuff. They're right there." He pointed to a cliff nearby. We could barely see the two-headed shape of a dragon, but they probably had a pretty good view of us.
"RUFF! TUFF! Get down here, now!" Astrid yelled, putting our son on the floor. He was so impressed with her anger that backed away.
The Zippleback landed in front of us with their riders.
"You kidnapped my son!"
"Kidnap is a strong world." The twin boy started.
"And an inaccurate one. We just took him for a little ride, that's all." She shrugged.
"We didn't know it would end up putting the village on fire… But we loved watching all the chaos anyway." Tuffnut wiped a tear from his dreamy eyes.
"And what a privileged view we had! But we had a lot of fun today, didn't we, Stoick?"
The boy was so innocent that he just agreed and told us he had a very interesting afternoon. This only made Astrid get even angrier.
"Just what have you been doing with my son?"
"Okay! You know what, that's it. You two are grounded. You couldn't have just taken him away like that without Astrid's consent or mine. So I don't want to see you two flying for at least a week, though Barf and Belch can go as they please. And you're gonna help fixing these houses. Oh, and the two of you're gonna clean up the stables for a month. All of them."
"What?" "No fair!" They said at the same time.
"Or, you can always serve as a target practice for a month in Astrid's classes…"
"I liked this option…" She said with a sarcastic dark tone that sent shivers down my spine. And apparently, it had the same effect on the twins.
"Nope. We take the first option."
"Yeah, this is the safest one by far…"
"Good. You start tomorrow and if you disobey, it's second option in a blink of an eye."
"And I'd love to give some extra classes."
So, the twins ran away quickly. They didn't fly away, afraid of a worse punishment.
I sighed heavily and felt my shoulders falling. I didn't think I had the energy to go even flying right now… I ended up sitting on the floor. Worrying was such an energy taker and I didn't even had much of it left… I buried my face on my hands and felt Toothless nudging me. I didn't have to look up and see Astrid and Valka exchanging looks.
"Come with me, Stoick. Let's get inside." I heard my mother say.
As soon as the door a few meters away closed, Astrid began.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes…"
"Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier… I'm just glad he's back home safe and sound."
"So am I. But you were right, I should have left Stoick with my mom, but we were jut here. I was sure he'd just walk home safely… I'm a horrible father. I mean, what if someone really kidnapped him just like that? Like that time with the bounty hunters… But at least then I was already eighteen and could defend myself actually pretty well. Still, I know everyone here likes him, so I didn't think nothing would happen…"
"Nothing happened, Hiccup. Thank Thor, nothing happened."
"But it could have. Snotlout was right, I'm irresponsible."
"If you're agreeing with Snotlout, you really have lost your mind. Look, let's just thank the Gods everything went well and let's go back home." I nodded and she helped me up. "And by the way, you're not a horrible father. Stoick and Sophie love you and you do what you think it's right. But do something like that again and I'll strangle you." She had a bit of fun undertone, which made we laugh just a little.
"Believe me, if I'm stupid enough to let it happen again, you won't have to do that because I'd have already done that to myself…" I kissed her and we entered back home.
"Daddy." I felt myself being shaken. "Wake up, Daddy."
"What?"
"I'm hungry." Stoick was looking at me with those big blue eyes so close to me as he woke me up.
"Where's Astrid?"
"I dunno. She left this note on the table. Well, I think it's from mommy, I can't read it…" He handed me a piece of paper. I rubbed my eyes as I sat to look at it while he sat on the bed, waiting for me to read it.
"She left early to help fixing the houses that caught fire yesterday. She also left Sophie with my mom, so it's just you and I here." And she left to make the life of two siblings very miserable, but he didn't need to know this part. I looked at the stone in the other side of the room. Toothless was nowhere to be seen, so he was probably hunting or with Astrid or Valka.
"Oh… And, Daddy, mommy told me I couldn't leave the house alone anymore until I'm ten. Ten! It's gonna be a life time. What I did wrong? She told me too that if I scared her like that again she'd ground me forever. Does that mean I won't get to get a dragon?"
I couldn't help but laugh at his sweet innocence.
"It was not this kind of grounding and she'd get better soon, don't worry. It's just that we didn't know where you were when you were with Ruff and Tuff and we were afraid something bad could have happened to you. But we know it was not your fault."
"I didn't know I made you two sad… I'm sorry…" He hugged my quite tightly for someone so small.
"Just remember that you always have to ask for permission to go with other people. Your mom and I need to know where you are all the time, got it?" He answered nodding vigorously. "Good. Now, let's go. I need to get ready, fix us breakfast and then change your clothes to leave you with my mom."
I grabbed my prosthetic under the bed and changed clothes very quickly and then we went downstairs, to the kitchen. We ate bread and cheese before I helped Stoick to change his clothes.
"By the way, what did you do with the twins for so long?" I was afraid of the answer, but curiosity just got me.
"A lot of things. The two held my hands when we were flying; they played a game that they'd give to the other while we were in the air. That was fun! And we played catch in the woods. They even showed me how to brush Barf and Belch's teeth! Now I can take care of dragons, too!"
"Oh Geez, it's worse than I thought…" I tried not to think of the twins throwing my four-year-old son to one another while flying dangerously miles from the ground. "Don't tell that to your mother, if she asks, just tell her you guys flew and played in the woods…"
"Why? You said it's not good to lie."
"Lying is a bad thing, but it's not a lie. There's a difference. And it's because that's gonna make her very sad…" And possibly make her want to kill the twins…
"Okay, then…" When he was finally ready, I started leading him outside. This time, I'd be sure not to make the same mistake again, I'd be sure Valka would receive her grandson to take care of. "Daddy?"
"Yes?"
"I need to tell you something…"
This couldn't be good.
"What's it?"
He ran to the door and opened it. He had a really huge grin on his lips.
"She followed me here, I swear! Can I keep her now? I'm gonna call her Fireworm!" I looked at the same red and yellow Monstrous Nightmare from the day before.
"Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no and no! Your mom will not like this."
"But I want a dragon so I can fly just like you and mommy!"
"As I said, you're too young and she is too young. She's not strong enough to carry you, yet."
"Dragons grow fast. I heard Fishlegs telling that. I can fly in her in just a few months. And I'll be five next month. I'm a pretty big boy and mommy could let me keep it as a birthday present!"
"It's fly on her, not in her. And no. Flying only starts when you turn ten."
"I can wait! And I can take care of her until that!" He jumped outside. "And look, she likes me!" He petted her and the dragon nuzzled him tenderly.
"Stoick, you're killing me…" I sighed. "Okay, you know what, I'll talk to Astrid later. But she's the one with the final word in this."
"Okay!"
"Great… Now, let's go. I still have a lot of things to do…"
I grabbed his hand and he sauntered by my side until we reached Valka's house, his new friend never leaving us. As my mom eyed me with a questioning look after acknowledging the child Monstrous Nightmare, I had the feeling this was gonna be another pretty long day…
Jus a fun fact: I decided to name Stoick's little sister "Sophie" for two reasons, 1, I like naming characters that have some relation with something similar, like the same initial letter. And the second, it's because it's Jaime's little sister in Rise of The Guardians and people joked that Jaime and Sophie kinda look like Astrid and Hiccup's kids (and this Sophie is kinda similar to the RoTG one).
Another curiosity: I decided to name Stoick's Dragon Fireworm because it's the name of Snotlout's Monstrous Nightmare in the books, you know, just to mix it a little bit. And the last one is that the story's tittle was inspired after the movie Finding Nemo, since it was about a father looking for his son (and because I was out of better ideas, lol)
I hope everyone liked this fic! Please don't hesitate to comment, I'd love to know your thoughts about it!
