I do not own Yugioh, as that's Konami's business. I do own my wonderful OC however!

Silence.

Out of all the old and rare cards his shop had on display, the only thing the decrepit shop seemed to have in spades was silence. That, and dust. No matter how many times the place was cleaned from head to toe, the dust always returned.

The only living thing in the shop, a man, or perhaps a kid for a closer comparison, let out a long, tired sigh at the back of the single storey floor, arms crossed in front of him and head notched in between them as the individual seemingly awaited the days end.

"You know, you'd think that a small shop containing some of the world's oldest and rarest cards in duel monsters history would be just a tad more popular, huh?" A snort suddenly sounded through the shop as the shopkeeper lifted his head to glance around his treasure trove of ancient relics, blowing a few strands of his short white hair, the ends dyed bitch black, out of his face in the process.

"But no, all everyone cares about these days are those new, fancy smancy synchro cards" A resounding thud suddenly echoed throughout the buildings interior as the kids heads collapsed back into his awaiting arms. It was going to be a long day indeed.

Line

A sharp click suddenly resounded around the shop, and as the shopkeeper took out the key he had just inserted, he gave the cabinet containing some of the more rarer cards a good shake, satisfied that everything's was locked up tight. Standing up from his crouched position, he gave his green tinted suit a quick pat down, along with the matching pair of jeans he wore. Satisfied that everything was in place, the shopkeeper walked over to the shops door and a stand next to it, which currently held a green cloak and a green top hat.

The boy grabbed the top hat and quickly put it on, which as soon followed by the green cloak, which was fastened securely around his neck with a golden brooch in the shape of some kind of egyption eye.

Giving the shop one last look, the shopkeeper turned off the the interior lights before exiting the building. After locking up the shops main entrance, the boy took a couple steps back and gazed up at the shop. Above the shops entrance the same golden eye that was around his neck was seen on the buildings front with the words "Millenium Cards" written on it. The building was sandwiched between two others, as was every other one on the street. It wasn't much in all honestly, just an old dingy shop in the middle New Domino city, a shop that has been passed down through generations upon generation of family. But it was all he had left, and so it was good enough.

But soon he turned and walked away, beginning the long walk home to an apartment complex near the outskirts of the city.

"It sure is a nice out" he had to admit "not to hot out, but not to cold either. Yes, it was going to be a nice and relaxing walk home indeed-"

"SOMEONE HELP ME!" suddenly cried out of one of the many alleyways that littered the street. Giving the nearest ally a quick look, the boy was quick to identify the situation. A man, his back to him at the moment, cornering what appeared a very young child.

"Sorry kid, but no one coming to save you. Now, why don't we get back to business-"

"Excuse me, is everything alright here?" the boy spoke to the man cornering the kid. The man, obviously startled by the new comer, suddenly looked over his shoulder, revealing a matching pair of dirty unkempt hair and face, with the a yellow mark under his left eye.

"Uh, ya. Everything is just fine. Me and my, ah, err…"

"Please, help me-" the child interrupted the man, only for the man to suddenly turn back to the child.

"Shut it kid, or else" The man spoke menacingly, making the child shrink back in fear.

"Well" The boy spoke out, catching the mans attention once more.

"It is quite obvious that the situation is in fact, not "fine", as you say it is. So why don't we just let kid go and we can all go our separate ways" the boy tried to reason, but to no avail if the smile he gave the boy was any indication.

"Oh, i don't think so. You see, if the cloths this kids wearing are any indication, then he must have some serious cash on him". The man explained, before giving the boy a quick eyeing before his smile widened even more.

"In Fact, the same could be said for you as well, kid" He stated, a wicked gleam in his eye.

"Ah great, so this is what i get for just rushing in here without a plan. Come on, think Carmine, there's gotta be something i can do-" The now named carmine thought before a sudden realization hit him.

"Over course!"

"So, what it going to be kid, we going to do this the easy way, or the hard way" The man stated while slowly itching his way towards his new target.

"I have a better idea" Carmine suddenly spoke, surprising the man.

"Oh? And whats that" The man asked.

"How about we Duel instead" Carmine stated, catching the man off guard.

"Duel?"

"Yeah, Duel. You do have a deck i assume?"

"Of course i do" the man stated with some annoyance.

"I just fail to see what's in it for me" He continued

"It's quite simple really. You beat me, and i'll gladly give you everything on my person, plus sector security will never know about this incident". If the Widening of the man's eyes was any indication, then he most certainly wasn't expecting that.

"Hmm, what an interesting proposal. And if i lose?"

"Then you leave here empty handed, and never show your face around me or the kid again".

"Hmm…" The man hummed out, his expression of one deep in thought.

"Come on, take it. Take the deal!" Carmine thought with some amount of panic. This was his, and to an extent the kids only way out of the situation after all. The decision came when all of a sudden the man reached behind him and pulled out a duel disk, and attached it to his arm.

"Your gonna wish you just kept walking when i'm through with you" The man stated with a surprising conviction. Though, unknown to the man, the boy was wearing a triumphant smile to the man's response.

"We'll see about that" Carmine stated, before pulling out a green tinted duel disk, and quickly inserting it to his left arm

"I'll squash you like a bug!" The man stated before pulling out a deck of cards, and inserting it into his duel disk, the machine automatically shuffling it.

"Whatever you say" Carmine replied, before throwing open his cloak, revealing that the cloak was covered in pockets, each one holding a deck of cards, and quickly copying his opponent one one of the many decks.

"Well in that case, i think i'll take the first move!" He yelled out before drawing a card and adding it to his hand.

"Perfect" The man though.

"I think i'll start things out by summuning Shinobird Crane, in attack mode!" The Statement was punctuated when a hole opened up in the floor and spitting out a humanoid crane wielding a bow.

"A spirit monster? But i thought spirit monster had to return to the owners hand at the end of the turn, so why-" But the boys thoughts were interrupted when the man placed another card on the duel disk.

"I know activate the equip spell know as Mirror of Yata! This equip spell makes it so that the equipped spirit monster does not return to my hand when my turn ends".

"Oh, now i get it"

"Oh, but don't get your hopes up yet, cause i'm only getting started. I now activate the continuous spell, Shinobird Power Spot! This spell raises the attack and defense of all spirit monster on the field by 500!" And indeed, if one were to observe the duel they would notice the 1500 attack crane suddenly jump to 2000.

"I now end my turn"

"Then i draw!" Carmine said, before drawing his card and adding it to his hand.

"Tell me, do you remember when you called me a kid?" Carmine suddenly asked the man.

"Huh? Well of course i do, why?" The man asked with some suspicion.

"Simple. Your observation was more spot on then you realize, observe once more!" Carmine yelled out before placing a card on his disk. Almost immediately purple smoke spiraled out of the ground.

"I activate the spell card know as, Toon World!" All of a sudden, a cartoonish green book with the words "Toon World" comically pooped out of the smoke, before opening up to reveal a cartoonish pop up castle.

"Toon World? I've never heard of that card" The man exclaimed.

"Well then, what happens next will leave you even more confused than before, but before we can continue, Toon World does have a slight price to pay in order to activate it." The sudden loss of 1000 life points showed what price it was.

"1000 life points? Kid, are you trying to let me win, because your doing a great job of it". The man exclaimed with much confidence.

"I never said i was finished, now, with Toon World in effect, i can now special summon, Toon Mermaid!" All of sudden, Toon World closed up and began spinning like mad, before stopping and quit litterly spitting out a giant clam, which then promptly grew eyes and opened itself up to reveal a cartoon mermaid with a bow lying inside the clam.

"What… just happened" The man asked with obvious confusion.

"The beginning of the end!" Carmine yelled out before grabbing another card.

"I now summon, Breaker the Magical Warrior!" This time a hole opened in the ground, before a knight in red armor appeared.

"When Breaker the Magical Warrior is summoned, i can place one spell counter on him, giving him 300 etra attack points". And indeed, the monsters 1600 attack suddenly jumped to 1900.

"So what, its still not enough to defeat my monster". The man pointed out.

"That's because it's not meant to" Carmine responded.

"What?" The exclaimed.

"I activate Breaker the Magical Warrior's Ability! By removing one spell counter from my monster, i can destroy one spell or trap on the field".

"No way!" The man yelled out in shock.

"Now, Breaker the Magical Warrior, destroy his Shinobird Power Spot!" The knight in red then jumped into the air, before landing behind the spell card and driving his sword through it, shattering it into pieces. The knight then returned to his original position on carmine's field.

"Grr, you'll pay for that runt"

"But that's not all" Carmine stated, ignoring the man's threats.

"I now tribute my Breaker the Magical Warrior, and my Toon Mermaid". The two monster were then suddenly sucked into toon world when it open up, dragging them in like a vacuum, before closing then suddenly bulging out like a balloon were it exploded into purple smoke.

"Here's a legendary monster in its most supreme form - and it's much more cuddly too!" Camine revealed as the smoke disappeared, showing a small blue cartoon dragon, its eyes full of mischief.

"Blue Eyes Toon Dragon!" Carmine finished.

"3000 attack? No way…" the man whispered.

"Lucky for you, my monster can't attack the turn it's summoned, so i'll end my turn. Your move".

"Big mistake kid, my move!" The man then drew his card.

"Yamato-no-Kami, perfect! I just need to get one spirit monster into my graveyard, and his freak of a monster will be more than happy to help me i warrant, until then…"

"I switch my Shinobird Crane into defense mode and end my turn"

"Then victory is mine!" Carmine shouted while drawing his card.

"I now play the spell card, Toon Rollback!" The card then appeared on the field.

"Oh great, and what does that do exactly?" The man asked.

"Oh it's quite simple really, my toon monster can attack an additional time this combat!"

"Oh No!" the man yelled out in shock, before calming himself.

"Its fine, he can beat me this turn anyways because my crane is in defense mode-"

"Oh right, i forgot to mention something important" Carmine suddenly stated.

"And that would be…" The man asked, suddenly unsure about his chances.

"That by paying 500 life points per attack, my Blue Eyes Toon Dragon can attack your life points directly!"

"NOO!" The man exclaimed with absolute fear.

"Now my dragon, White lightning attack!" The dragon then started sucking in a ton of air until he was quite literally bulging like a balloon, before he exhaled, firing a bolt of white lighting that struck the man directly, dropping his life points from 4000 to 1000.

"And now for that second attack!" Then reality suddenly froze, and the smoke caused from the explosion suddenly collected itself back together into the lighting blast that flew back into the dragon, before he shot it out once more, this time dropping his life points to zero, and causing all the cards and monsters on the field to disappear.

The man then sank to his knees, defeat covering his expressions

"I… lost?"

"Yup, and know you'll leave in peace… right" Carmine asked with more of a question then an answer.

The man suddenly growled, his hands bunching up into fists.

"Uh oh…" Carmine thought while trying to plan ways out of the situation before the man suddenly got to his feet and… promptly walked past him.

"Your going to regret this kid". The man's whispered menicling before exiting the alleyway and disappearing around the corner.

"I hope not" thought with some amount of fear, but before he could dwell on it any further he was interrupted when a small object collided with his legs, almost knocking him over.

"Thank you for helping me mister!" practically screamed the small child he had defended.

"Can you please let go?" asked Carmine, who was still having trouble with staying up right.

"Oh yeah, uh, sorry" the kid said before detaching himself from my legs and taking a couple steps back. The kid, a small boy, was now fully visible at last, and was wearing a dirty blue school uniform, with green hair tied into a ponytail. His yellow eyes, red from crying he assumed, were now wide with excitement.

"That was so cool mister! I've never seen dueling like that before! I mean, he didn't even stand a chance against you! You like, obliterated him… in two turns!" Hiding the growing blush was getting harder every compliment.

"Ah jeez kid, it wasnt THAT impressive". Carmine said while scratching the back of his head.

"Are you kidding me? You were like a superhero! The only other person i know who could duel that well would be my sis...ter." And like a flick of a light switch the light from the child's eyes died, replaced by sadness if the tears gathering in his eyes were anything to go by.

"Hey, you ok kid?" Carmine asked before immediately cringing at his own words.

"Of course he's not ok, otherwise he wouldn't be crying" And still the kid trembled, like any second a dam was going to burst.

"Oh no, what do i do? I'm not good with kids! Come on Carmine think- wait, i got it!" Before the perhaps not so metaphorical dam could burst, the kid suddenly found himself scooped off the ground and into his savior's arms like the child he was.

"He, what are you doing?" The kid yelled, his voice taking on a slight quiver from his near melt down.

"Taking you home, this is no place for kids, especially at night. While our city might be the closest thing to a utopia that we can get, almost perfectly safe does not mean perfectly safe, right?" Carmine asked.

"I guess so…" the kid responded, sounding surprisingly drained.

"So kid" Carmine asked, grabbing the kids attention again.

"You gotta name"

"Uh, ya, ins Leonard, but you can just call me Leo, everyone else does".

"Very well then Leo, so where exactly do you live?"

"Oh, i live in the tops" And that's when my heart skipped a beat.

"The tops huh? I guess that man's prediction about Leo being rich weren't that far off."

"Well then Leo" I began while trying to hide the fact this kid could probably buy my entire store with his pocket change.

"Why don't you tell me about yourself"

"Like what?" Leo asked with some small amount of confusion.

"Well, let's see… do you duel?" because what else was i going to talk about?

"Of course i do! I've got this awesome deck with some of the coolest combos you've ever seen!" And just like that, the light switch was back on.

"Well then, do explain"

"Well then, you see-" And for the next fifteen minutes or so Carmine traveled to the tops while the kid chatted his ear off, and unknowingly put into motion a new destiny, one where the forces of Good and Evil were not so much more in balance than some would have previously assumed. But was this for the better, or worse of things? Only time would tell.

Well then peoples of the interwebs, i greet you! So here it is, a new story I've been working on. All right, i'll make this quick, so some quick guidelines for my story, first i'll be using all the real life card texts for cards in the story, with a few exceptions, and you'll know those exceptions when you see them, trust me. Second, are main character here will not just be using a single deck, but i plan on utilizing many different types, with hopefully all of them based on older card archetypes, you know, like dark magician and blue eyes for example. And lastly, while i am getting back into the land of yugioh once more, I've been out of the loop for awhile, plus i don't actually play the game to much myself, so if i get something wrong or something doesn't make sense, just let me know cause the problems probably on my end. If you have any other questions, or just want to let me know how much you enjoy the story, or anythings else that doesn't match the mentioned criteria, send me a review or PM me. Other than that, Have a good rest of your day. Peace.
