Author's Note: It's yet another one-shot I wrote up. In a way, it could be called the "Sequel" to 'A Reason.' You don't have to read the other story to understand it but it might help clear some parts of it. Enjoy!

I've changed a few things around (I can't believe I never noticed I spelled them as then for so long, that's really embarrassing). Some wording was rearranged but that's it. Basic story still exists. And thanks to all those who reviewed

How had it come to this? In all her time here, this was by far the oddest. Even the time Sano had confessed that he knew she was a girl was nothing compared to this. She stared helplessly in front of her, watching her two best friends glare at each other. If looks could even remotely kill, the two of them would be dead ten times over.

For all the care and happiness they had showered on her, her words seemed to mean nothing at the moment. Lunch was getting cold, and everyone was staring at them, although they were inching away slowly. She could feel her face heat up from embarrassment.

"Guys…" she tried once more. Nothing but the slightest twitch of his hand from Nakatsu.

"GUYS!" Now it was getting beyond ridiculous. She was expecting a food fight at any moment, though Sano would probably never take part in something like that..then again, with the glare he was giving, things might change.

Last night flashed through her head; the calming, soothing, safe feeling washing over her. Looking between them once more, she made her decision and stood up. Grabbing her roommate's hand, she broke the staring contest, and proceeded to pull him through the cafeteria doors.

"Really, you don't have to act like that, you know. I'm not going to walk away from you," she muttered while plopping down on the grass. They were in a secluded field hidden behind one of the dorms.

Her roommate only sighed, a hand running through his black hair, "I know."

"So why do you still act like that?"

"Because you'll have to walk away, choice or not, if your secret gets out. And we all know how bad at keeping secrets Nakatsu is, especially when it comes to you. I couldn't risk it."

She couldn't say anything. On one hand, she should be mad; he had such little fate in their best friend. On the other, it was so sweet-especially coming from him- and his words from last night were still in her head.

Seeing he had won, he plopped down beside her and sighed. "Promise me something."

"Sure."

"Promise me that no matter what happens, that if I can't protect you and we split apart, promise me, you'll wait. I'll come for you, even across an ocean."

There were tears in her eyes; she knew it was true, he wouldn't have said it otherwise. "I promise."

"Good. Now come on, it's time for class," and as he stood up and she grabbed his hand, they both knew it would take a lot more than a secret and jealous best friend to split them. They had promises to keep after all…
