Prompt #449 from tamingthemuse- Siege

"This is your entire fault," Spike hissed at Xander from his position on the banks floor.
Spike and Xander were going to the Bronze for a pint to celebrate Xander's first month in construction but Xander had told Spike he needed to go to the bank to cash his pay check first. Spike didn't even know the bank was open until seven at night. Just as Xander finished cashing his check two men stormed the bank with black masks covering their faces.
They each brought out a Beretta M9 and each shot a round into the ceiling before telling everyone to kiss the floor. The women screamed and did as they were told. One of the male tellers behind the counter pressed the red button to alert the police before coming around to join the others. One of the robbers saw what he had done and pistol whipped him causing him to crumble to the ground unconscious.
One of the gunmen grabbed one of the tellers and dragged her into the back to open the vault while the other one stayed and watched over the hostages.
"I didn't know the bank was going to be robbed!" Xander insisted. "We needed money so we could go out. How is it my fault?"
"Shut up!" the one gunman yelled and kicked Xander in the side with a steel toed boot.
Xander grunted and curled up.
Spike cursed the chip for the hundredth time. If he didn't have it he could take these two goons out without trouble. But now he couldn't even flick them in the forehead with a finger let alone snap their necks.
When the gunman was satisfied he walked away making sure everyone else was in check.
"You all right, luv?" Spike whispered.
Xander nodded the pain stopping him from talking. Apparently getting beaten up by demons on a weekly basis didn't make him stronger to not be affected by a human beating up on him.
They could hear police sirens and see flashing red and blue lights.
"Shit! Joe, you've got to move your ass!" The gunman yelled as he peaked out the window. Three cop cars came up the street. One parked in front of the bank and the other two around the building to flank them. They were under siege.
"Come out with your hands up!" A cop said through a bullhorn.
The gunman broke the window and shouted. "Fuck you, man!"
"Yeah, that's going to go over well," Spike muttered to himself.
"What the hell are you doing, Bobby?" Joe asked coming from the back with a large, black bag full of cash.
Bobby whirled around. "Cops man! We've got cops! We're surrounded!"
Joe rubbed his forehead. "Dude, we've been over this. We have hostages. They won't shoot us if we take a couple with us."
"Right. You're right," Bobby said. He looked at all the hostages. "How do we pick?"
"Well, the way I see it is we'll probably need to keep them for a little while to make sure the cops don't do anything stupid… so we might as well pick ones that we can have fun with," Joe said with a nasty laugh.
The women began to cry terrified of what would happen to them.
"Shut up!" Bobby yelled. "We're not interested in you." He pulled out a zip tie. Joe followed suit. He walked over to Xander and roughly grabbed his arm pinning them behind his back and tied them tightly behind his back.
"Hey! Hands off, buddy!" Xander said as he was pulled off his stomach and onto his feet. The gun was jabbed into his back.
Spike was up and on his feet. "Take your fucking hands off of him!" He took a menacing step towards Xander and Bobby as he flashed fang. Spike made sure he didn't get to close. If his chip went off there was nothing stopping these guys from taking Xander from him.
Bobby dropped his gun. "Holy shit, man!"
Joe was looking over the men trying to decide which one peeked his interest. "What is it now, Bobby?"
"This… this blonde guy isn't human!" Bobby said as he backed up pulled Xander with him, using him as a shield.
Joe sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Of course he'd human. What else would he be?"
Xander snorted out a laughed. "You guys aren't from around here, are ya?"
"Just passing through this lovely little town of yours," Joe answered.
"We should have known. There's no way two idiots like you would last more than a week in Sunnydale," Xander replied.
Bobby gripped Xander's dark locks and yanked his head back. "You have no idea what we've survived, asshole!"
Spike's snarl gained Joe's attention. He turned to see Spike in full vampire mode. Joe did the only thing he could. He shot three bullets into Spike's chest.
Spike grunted in pain but remained standing. It looked like the Bronze was out for tonight because Xander would be playing doctor. And not the fun kind. "I'll give you two twits' two options. The first is you drop your guns and surrender to the cops."
"A-and option two?" Bobby stuttered out.
"Option number two would be me ripping your throats open with my fangs and killing you right now," Spike said with a snap of his teeth.
Joe and Bobby looked at each other for a total of five seconds before dropping their guns and running out the door eagerly to be arrested.
"That was great, Spike but how the hell are we going to explain to the cops that you aren't actually a vampire if they end up giving you medical attention?" Xander asked worriedly as Spike ripped the zip tie off.
The teller that had alerted the police stood up. "There is a grate in the manager's office. It leads into the sewers. We always thought it was strange it being there but we never asked questions. I suggest you go now." He said as he saw the police getting ready to come in.
"Thank you," Xander said as he wrapped his arm around Spike's waist and helped him toward the manager's office. "Let's get you home, baby."
"You know how lucky we got, Xan?" Spike asked. "We would have been screwed if the damn chip went off." He pulled the grate off and jumped down.
Xander knew that but he didn't want to think about it. "We've stop the apocalypse more than once, we can handle stupid humans." He climbed down the ladder. "Can we not talk about it anymore? I just want to get you home and get those bullets out of you and some blood into you."
"Sounds good, luv." Spike looked at his bullet ridden shirt. Another one that was trashed. If that kept happening he was going to have to get Xander to pick up some more. There was no way Spike was stepping foot into the mall!
"I'm so sorry, Spike. I just wanted us to have one fun night out. One where our lives weren't in danger," Xander said as he walked through the sewer with Spike.
Spike stopped Xander and pulled Xander flush against him. Xander would need to pre-wash his shirt so it didn't stain with blood. "We live in Sunnydale, luv. I honestly doubt we will ever have a day outside of our apartment where we aren't fighting for our lives."
Xander knew Spike was right but that didn't help his disappointment. "Well I guess if I'm always going to be fighting for my life I'd prefer you having my back."
"I'll always have your back. Demon or human," Spike stated.
"That goes both ways," Xander replied with a little smile. "I know how you're always getting into trouble after all."
Spike sputtered. "I'm always getting into trouble? Xander, I think you've got that backwards!"
They argued the rest of the way home.
The End
