"Pass the cheese, will you Hermione dear?" Hermione picked up the cheese
board and passed it to Mrs. Weasley across the Weasleys' dinner table. She
had to do this very carefully, as somebody had bewitched the Brie to grow
legs and dance the hornpipiyrde upon the cheddar, which had recently taken
up the trumpet (Fred and George grinned at each other, then, seeing Harry
looking at them, regained looks of innocence).
Harry turned to look at his best friend, Ron, who was sitting beside him and proceeding to stuff his face with Edam, which was also protesting loudly at having a large square of itself cut out and spread on a biscuit. They were both very hungry that night, as they had been out playing Quidditch all day in the garden. Bill (A.N. Was he the good flier in the family? I've forgotten) and Harry were easily the best fliers, though Ron was quickly improving. Hermione had just sat and watched from the trellis, until Harry had swooped down and pulled him on his broom. Hermione soon got into the swing of things too, and had proved herself quite a decent player, as soon as Harry had released her and she was given her own broom.
The whole Weasley family was there that night, along with Harry and Hermione, who came so often they were like family anyway. The little kitchen was filled with friendly chatter, and everybody at the table was full at the end of the meal. It was only cheese and biscuits, yet George and Fred had finally made themselves useful by performing a fulfilment charm on the biscuits, so after only two or three everybody at the table was satisfied! This was probably the only reason that they were let off about the cheese - although they did have to do the washing up the muggle way!
After the meal, everybody was sent up to bed, and Hermione collapsed into her bed, just like everybody else, with a great deal of joy. She fell asleep almost immediately and slept soundly until she was woken up at 3 am by Harry and Ron.
"Sorry Hermione, but we think you have to see this." Grinned Ron. It took her about five minutes to establish that she was awake, and then she was dragged out of bed by the boys and then down the corridor to Bill's room. "Everyone's in there," whispered Harry. "It's Bill!" Hermione was then pushed to the front of the crowd of Weasleys, and was there greeted by one of the strangest sights she had ever seen!
Bill Weasley was wearing pyjamas and a bowler hat and was surrounded by chickens, some who were pecking at him. His eyes were open, yet it was clear that he was asleep because he was snoring loudly while performing some strange feats. He kept firing strange charms at his chickens, one that made them as tall as he was, and just as it was about to take a peck at his left eye, Arthur Weasley stepped in and removed the chickens. He turned to the spectators and made
"Move along now, off to bed - nothing more to see here. Go on - you too Ron. See you all tomorrow."
Hermione returned to bed giggling. Bill looked so cute in that bowler hat. But everyone looks cute when they're asleep, don't they? She passed off the last thought as ridiculous and climbed back into bed, and again sank into a deep sleep.
