Twist and reTurn Me: "Your life was everything you said you wanted when you moved away. You didn't come back for your mom or your sister and the two faced classmates so forgive me for thinking you came back for me Lace!" Danny had did it again. He had left her speechless and dazed and for that moment she wanted to do what she'd done best all her life; run away.
Author's Note: Hello! This is my first Twisted FanFiction and I'm actually very excited about it. I just can't get the show out of my head (Part 1B not that 2nd part nonsense) no matter how hard I try! Forget everything you know after Lacey's day at school after the sex tape is revealed to the whole school and that is where my story starts. I'm a bit rusty on writing (haven't really done so since I was a teenager and I'm twenty one now) so please bear with me as I get back into the groove of things. :)
[LACEY POV]
When the going got tough, Lacey got going.
It wasn't like she was particularly proud of her hard-situation handling skills. It was just something that she'd been doing for the longest of time so why stop now? Sighing, she leaned her head against the car window as her mother continued to go on and on about some 'Welcome Back' event she had planned for Lacey now that she'd be returning to Green Grove. Maybe coming back, regardless of the reason, was going to be a huge mistake.
Just a little over a year ago, the whole school witnessed a vulnerable and seductive Lacey just moments before making love to town bad boy Danny Desai. Luckily Doug decided to cut the viewing short when it came to the actual event however anyone with the faintest brain cell could muster up what came next. She let another sigh escape her lips. Maybe she should have kept her retainer comment to herself after all...
If there was anything she'd hated most in the world, it was unwarranted attention. She wasn't the type to rock the boat or even want to stand out in all the worst ways. Though tall, sophisticated, and beautiful to others, she was insecure as ever to herself. The week she spent at school after her sex tape had been leaked had been nothing short of a nightmare. Between that, finding out her former best friend liked him as well, and the whole 'necklace - in - my - locker' shenanigans, she had been brought to her end. So she did what she did best; walk away. Well more like move away hundreds of miles to Staten Island, New York with her dad and his fiance, James. It was easier than she'd imagine just picking up one day and moving the next. Her mother had went more than a bit hysterical, but that was to be expected. Still, she needed a change and was granted one with open arms. She had settled in, became more supportive of gay rights, made some new friends and even received better grades so why was she returning back to Green Grove, New York when the perfect life was furthest away from it? Only she knew...
"We're here!" Her mother had been eagerly awaiting her return and she wasn't hiding it one bit. Her youngest sister Clare had evolved more Jo tomboyish style and Lacey knew that drove her mother up the wall not having someone to go shopping with or showing off in preppy style. Lacey gave her mother a passable smile before unbuckling and starring at her old house. This use to be home, but why didn't it feel like home anymore? She quickly dismissed the question walking back to the trunk to grab her things. Before she could get the trunk open, she felt a small tug on her arm. "Those bags can wait Lacey, I have something to show you!" Her mother had exclaimed before gently pulling her to the other side of the driveway. There sat a newer BMW (with a red bow on top in all of its cheesy presentation) much like her mother's except in black instead of silver. "I thought since it was your senior year and you being back to possibly take that Green Grove prom queen crown much like I did while I was there some years back, you'd like to return in style." Lacey let out a small laugh at both her mother's attempts; 1. Trying to persuade Lacey to even care about coming back to a school that dismissed her in a click of the play button and wanting to be their prom queen and 2. Trying to make her graduation seem like it was just some years ago when it was ancient history. Though she might have a year ago, Lacey didn't care about having a new car or persuading anyone who didn't genuinely like her to do anything, but she knew her mother had spent a load of cash on the car and the bow wasn't awfully wrapped around it. She gave her mother a half forced smile and a hug. "Thanks Mom. Seriously." And with that, she knew her mother was more than satisfied... so why wasn't Lacey?
[DANNY POV]
"We've been friends for the longest and I still don't understand how you straight face every emotion. Like seriously, I have a program that digitally imprints smiles on you in pictures because I've seen you side smirk to both sides on rare occasions, but other than that... flat line. It makes it harder to know if you've heard certain things or not because your emotions just don't show so I don't know if I should bring them up or if I shouldn't or how-"
"RICO! Relax." Danny smirked stopping his friend from going off the deep end. He often rambled when he was nervous or excited about things which was still amusing to Danny who often hid his own emotions on the inside. Danny was usually misunderstood and doubted anyway so to him it was natural to just keep all his worries to himself. Things would work themselves out with real actions instead. And they did. Well, at least the whole murder 2.0 situation did. They had finally found Regina's real killer (her own Mother!) after six months of hammering down on Danny and the town had since moved on from any Danny related problem (including the sex tape...) and unto how twisted the Crane family really was. He wasn't considered just a normal teen again (like he'd ever be honestly), but his 'popularity' did spark with the female population of Green Grove High who now wanted to try their chances with 'the best bad boy' of Green Grove history. His mind scoffed at the thought. Just a bit over a year ago they were chasing his former best friend and brief girlfriend who he did NOT (okay did) think about often about out of town over the same guilty pleasure. Though he knew to Lacey he was no guilty pleasure, but an actual human being with mutual feelings (or so he'd like to hope). Getting himself out of his own head he directed his attention back to Rico seemed as though he would explode in his seat at any given moment. "Okay, what is it? What's got your panties in a bunch?"
Rico had took a few breaths before grabbing the closest object (an unused straw as they were sitting in their booth in the diner), twirling it in his hands and starting again with speaking. "Well don't freak out or anything, but there has been a rumor going around that Lacey Porter is coming back and that people are starting to get invitations to her Welcome Back event and everything tomorrow before school starts and that she's going to be going to Green Grove High which would be obvious because if she's moving back it's the only high school here besides the alternative school and of course Lacey's grades weren't up to par, but she wasn't that bad to be sent there so yeah I'm putting money on it's going to be Green Grove." He was able to get out before letting out a huge breath.
"Oh. Okay." Danny had replied nonchalantly making Rico dramatically slam the straw down on the booth. "OH OKAY?! Did you not hear anything I just said or have you forgotten about the whole thing with the tape and the Jo and the jock and the..." Rico's rambled continued and Danny knew it would continue on for at least another three minutes which gave him the chance to zone out of real life and get into his own head. Lacey was returning to Green Grove? Why didn't she say anything to him? It's not like they talked much (or at all rather) since she left, but he'd thought she'd at least tell him or Jo who would have automatically told him something as huge as this especially since she left with no goodbye. And what was this party Rico was talking about? Why didn't he get an invite? Though Danny wasn't exactly a party starter when she had left, he'd think he would at least get some type of invite being 'best friends' (loosely) and all. He knew his face had remained straight, but his mind had thrown him for a thousand curve balls. He was hurt by the terms him and Lacey had left on. They seemed worst than when he had went off to jail those years back. He had heard through ease dropping on conversations with those in the school that Lacey had created a hidden Facebook and made a new good life in Staten Island with her dad. If that truly were the case, why was she back now?
"The party she's hosting tomorrow... did you by any chance get the location of its whereabouts?" He asked casually cutting Rico off.
