He was lying in his bed. When he glanced upwards, he looked right into the beautiful yet often scaring eyes of Ginny and her old but still so perfect face. As his hands were warm with the grip of the two dearest women in his life, he saw his life passing in front of his eyes.
The spiders living at the Dursley's. The stormy night he found out he was a wizard. The first time he met Ron and Hermione, the first time he looked into the eyes of Voldemort.
Fighting a basilisk. Producing a real Patronus. Cedric dying.
Sirius dying. His and Ginny's first kiss. The night Dumbledore died.
Defeating Voldemort once and for all. Becoming Head of the Auror Department.
James' birth. Albus' first smile. His little girl entering the train to Hogwarts. Traveling through the world with Ginny. Helping Ron with his autobiography.
James' girlfriend presenting him his first granddaughter. Albus winning an international Potion making contest. His little girl marrying a Muggle. Ron dying at the age of 61 and and him comforting Hermione. Living happily in his little cottage.
James' daughter calling her son Harry jr. Albus becoming Headmaster of Hogwarts. His little girl moving back to England after spending half her life in the rest of world.
And now, he was in his peaceful home with his family. On his left side, there was Ginny. At her side stood James with his daughter, holding little Harry jr, and three other sons. There were Albus with his daughter and his little girl with her husband. Hermione was on his right side with Rose and Hugo and their respective children.
Harry couldn't think of a better way to face the last adventure. He only wished Ron could be here, too.
He took one last sight of Ginny, remembering the first time they had met, when she had been ten years old, begging her mother to let her go to Hogwarts.
He took one last sight of Hermione, remembering the first time they had met, when she had been looking for Neville's toad.
He didn't see two old women.
The boy who lived closed his eyes and saw Lupin, Sirius and his parents standing in front of him, at the forest.
He smiled weakly, to himself or to his family, and died.
