"Come on, have a heart!" the annoying voice of Rigby said. Benson tensed, and felt all the color drain from his glass head. A strange chill entered the room they were in.
"Bad move dude." Mordecai said. Skips skipped in, and saw Benson, standing there, staring into space.
"What happened?" Skips asked.
"Rigby called Benson heartless." Mordecai said. Skips looked at the two.
"Great. Just great. I'll be right back." Skips said. Benson fell to his knees, still staring off into space, and brought his arms in front of his eyes. Skips came back, talking on a cell phone.
"Benson's in dire need of your services. He was called "heartless". Rigby. Look, just come over right away! You are? Great! See you! Bye." Skips hung up. Just then, there was a knock on the door. Skips opened it, and sighed in relief. "Great! Come with me!" he said, leading a female gumball machine into the living room. She glared icily at Rigby.
"I suppose Benson had never mentioned me. My name is Rose Silverpen. Do you, Rigby, have ANY idea what you just did?" the gumball machine said, with a voice as cold and sharp as steel. "No, I suppose you don't. If what Benson has told me is true, then most of the time you have no idea what you're doing. He told me about you, both of you." she continued. She turned her attention to Benson. "Benson, I know what you're thinking. You aren't heartless." she said, her tone changing completely to become warm and sweet.
"Am to. He said so. She said so. Mommy said so. Daddy said so." Benson said, in a voice similar to one of a little kid.
"Benson, listen to me. It doesn't matter what they think, it only matters what you think. I want you to know, I love you." Rose said, kneeling next to the shaking park manager. Benson hugged Rose, and clung to her, sobbing hard. Rose hugged him back, not caring that her shirt was getting wet.
"Rosie!" Benson said. Rose sighed.
"Benny, would it help if I sang to you?" she asked.
"Yes." Benson replied softly.
"You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine,
You make me happy,
When skies are gray,
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you,
Please don't take,
My sunshine, away." Rose sang softly and sweetly. Benson stopped crying, and seemed to snap out of his trance.
"Rose?" he asked, speaking normally.
"Oh Benson." Rose said, as he removed himself from her grasp and they stood. Benson sighed, and wiped his eyes dry.
"Get back to work!" he shouted, glaring at Mordecai and Rigby. The jay and raccoon nodded, and did as told. Rose smiled at Benson.
"Give me a call anytime." she said, walking away.
A/N: This cute little one-shot does NOT, I repeat, NOT reflect how I feel about Benson. It instead shows how Mordecai and Rigby feel about their boss, though they would never say it. Yes, Fluffiness between Rose and Benson. This was written for MissCharlotteAwesome, because she is awesome, and she asked for more Benson and Rose stuff (I think!) Plus, she dedicated a chapter in one of her stories to me. Thanks again!
