Lily Evans waited in the Gryffindor common room for her friend, Marlene, to finish unpacking her things. She sat on the couch in front of the fire, thinking about her schedule for her fifth year at Hogwarts.

Marlene called down saying she would be a couple more minutes but Lily was too focused on her new classes to even notice the figure sitting beside her. It wasn't until his arm was around her shoulders when she finally looked up. Instead of moving away, Lily sat there and calmly said, "Get your arm off of me." When the boy didn't move, Lily raised her voice. "Now, Potter!"

James Potter took his arm away and laughed. Behind them were his best friends, Sirius, Remus and Peter. "Aw, come on, Evans." He said, running a hand through his already messy hair. "It's not like I'm taking your virtue or anything." His friends broke out into fits of laughter while Lily rolled her eyes.

The red head stood up from the couch and began walking towards the girls dormitories. "Hurry up, Mary! It's almost time for dinner." Marlene's reply was inaudible, but James' wasn't.

"Let me take you to dinner, Evans." He said sarcastically. "I promise to behave." He grinned at her.

Lily groaned and pushed past him. "Hey, Remus." She said, half-heartedly.

"Moony, you're stealing his girlfriend." Sirius accused sarcastically.

Lily gave him a pointed look. "Shut it, Black."

Sirius raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Prongs, your girlfriend is very feisty tonight."

Lily's face turned red. "I am not, or ever will be, his girlfriend."

While turning back to the girl's dorm, the red head caught a glimpse at James' face. Lily could've sworn she saw a brief flash of hurt. She shook this off before she could start to feel bad. "Marlene, come on." Lily yelled up.

"Just go without me, Lils!" Marlene called back. "I'll be there soon."

Lily huffed and turned on her heel, walking out of the room and towards the Great Hall. Just as she reached the staircase, James and Sirius showed up on either side of her, with Remus and Peter following behind.

"You didn't think you'd get off that easy, did you?" Sirius teased.

"Aw, come on, Prongs. Leave the poor girl alone." James said. Lily was about to thank him when he quickly added, "We're just walking her to dinner so I can get a quick snog later."

Sirius snickered and Lily felt heat rise to her face.

"Quick being the key term, Black. Which is still more than you've ever gotten." Lily snapped back. When James laughed she realized she had implied her and Potter would be snogging later. "I didn't–" She started but shut her mouth instead.

If her first few hours at Hogwarts was like this, Lily couldn't imagine what the rest of the year would be like.

A/N First chapters are always slow, but I promise the pace will speed up. These are my favourite types of Jily fics; Where they fight and then in the last year they go out on a date or whatever so if you know of any GOOD ones like this then please send me a link

Thank you!
