The Little Things

It was the little things that Katara appreciated.

The way he would walk on the side closest to the road when they went shopping, the way he would carry all the bags so she wouldn't have to, the way he kept her from getting scammed by the merchants and shopkeepers...

The way he would let her watch him practice, the way he shared his bending techniques, the way he encouraged her when she said she wanted to learn how to use his swords...

The way he knew when she needed a listening ear, the way he knew when she needed time alone to think, the way he knew just when to give her hand the slightest squeeze of reassurance...

It was the little things that Zuko did that Katara truly appreciated.
