"You've been investigating me?"
"Do I have a reason to?"
"You are my best friend Jane I thought that you would be the one person I could trust inexplicably. How could you ask me that?"
"You asked me a question first, I was just responding."
"Then answer instead of deflecting me." Maura shot the police officer a hard look and her best friend didn't back away from the contact.
"I have a case to solve." The detective walked away not offering the other woman any sort of answer.
She wasn't sure how long she had been sitting at her desk. It had to have been hours since Korsak and Frost had both already left for the night. This fight with Maura had left her more than a little unfocused. In fact she had been reading the same line for at least twenty minutes and still had no idea what it said. What reason did she have to be mad anyway? It's not like Maura was hers anyway. Her eyes widened at the realization.
"Oh shit. I love…no fuck that I'm in love with Maura." The sound of someone dropping something made her turn around quickly in her chair.
"I was bringing you dinner; I knew that you would be working late. It's one of your ways of coping with your stress. In fact I think it may be your favorite way to…" The Doctor wasn't sure when Jane had come to stand in front of her but all she could focus on was Jane's lips against hers. How roughly she pulled them together so their bodies were flush. It was so different than the way she had thought it would be (and yes she could admit the thought had crossed her mind more than once). Where she expected timid and shy she was met with passion and fire.
When two hands made their way to her hips she gasped at the new feeling. Those hands were strong, rough from the years of hard work. Scarred from the time of Hoyt but they felt nothing short of perfect. Air became necessary and reluctantly Maura pulled away staring into practically black eyes.
"Oh."
"Oh? That's all you have to say Dr. Isles is oh?" Jane smirked at the crimson blush that started on Maura's face and worked its way down until it was hidden (unfortunately) by her dress.
"I'm afraid that my brain doesn't seem to be processing words very well right now. I believe it's safe to safe that you have rendered me speechless."
"Well how about I make you a deal? We go back to my apartment, I take you to bed and we can see if you're as quiet then as you are now." Grinning wider at Maura's moan of approval, Jane grabbed her hand and pushed the down button on the elevator.
The two lay in bed panting heavily after round three of their love making. Maura resting her head comfortably on her lover's shoulder smiling shyly when said woman kissed her hair. Jane had proved that she wasn't near as quiet in the bedroom as she had been in the office.
"Jane!" She exclaimed raising her head to make eye contact with the brunette
"What babe? What is it? Is something wrong?"
"I almost forgot what I had intended to say before we began our liaison."
"Okay…" Jane looked at her confusingly before getting side tracked when a naked Maura Isles straddled her hips, leaning down to place a peck on her lips.
"I'm in love with you too."
