Hello, I write really short fics. I apologise for the messy writing style but I feel like it's more like the way someone would think.
I guess I should explain that when I first started reading and writing Thiefshipping fanfics, Bakura would ALWAYS top, and you can see that in my first fanfic because he's portrayed as being pretty dominating at least in his mind. In actuality I feel as though either one could be dominant, after all it's not as though Marik's a pushover. I was just so used to the idea. But now I find it refreshing to see the typical roles reversed, which is why I write predominantly in that way. Bakura usually tops, I feel, because Marik appears to be pretty feminine and there's a bit of a gender role mentality happening. In actuality the opposite makes more sense to me, especially in terms of what's 'cannon'. Bakura, put lightly, is Marik's bitch in both the anime and manga. Marik relies on him, yes, but he'd just as easily get by without his help. And Bakura, he knows he's getting used and played but as long as he's brought closer to his goal it doesn't really matter. In this context, Bakura's more submissive than Marik, since he usually gets his way.
