She had been shot through the heart. By Kikyou's arrow. She never made a sound, she just fell from the cliff, down. Down. Into the water far below.
'It's over.'
"Kagome!!"
Inu-Yasha's desperate cries followed her down, to the bottom of the cliff.
She hit the water with a spash. She sunk under, relaxing as her breath was being used up. She felt nothing, not even pain underneath the dark water, and looked up at the wavy moon above her.
* These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase *
Looking back on everything she thought she knew about Inu-Yasha, she knew he never loved her. Hell, he never even cared about her.
Sure, he would save her life, because he needed her, for one and one job only; to complete the Shikon Jewel.

She didn't struggle to swim to the surface. Why should she? Just so she could be killed again? No. Never again.

She was running out of breath, she exhaled the last of her breath and a pain surged within her lungs.
Her vision blurred, and she saw a familiar figure swim towards her.
'Go away. Just leave me alone. You and Kikyou have killed me enough.'

You voice it chased away all the sanity in me *
She felt the cold. The icy cold hands of death grip her soul and began to take it away, and she welcomed it. She didn't want to have to live knowing what that hanyou did to her.

She remembered just how he and Kikyou made her feel. Seeing the two, holding each other in their arms. Inu-Yasha telling her how he loved her.
Then came the pain. Kagome was heard from within the woods, sobbing at the sight of the two. An arrow fired, and Kagome staggered out of the woods and had fallen off the cliff.

He brought her to the surface of the water and swam to the shore. He tried to bring her back from the dead. He failed.
He cried out her name and fell to his knees. A piece of parchment fell from the sky. He read the words. The words he would never forget.
