The boy let his violet eyes slip closed as his fingers floated effortlessly above the black and white keys of the piano. The haunting, lonesome melody filled the heavy, but comfortable and calming, silence of the dark, candle-lit room. The only other sounds were the rain falling steadily outside and the calm, steady breathing of the boy listening. Dylan hadn't even realized he'd stopped until he heard light, swift footsteps approaching.
"Dude…that was…beautiful." A monotone voice said behind him and Dylan smirked, detecting an undertone of admiration in the boy's flat, emotionless tone.
"So…is it true….?" The blue-eyed boy trailed off uncertainly, knowing he was bringing up a subject better left unspoken. Dylan turned to face him.
"Yea…Daniel actually broke up with me." The raven and crison haired boy confirmed, "H-he just," Dylan continued, smirking and shaking his head in disbelief, "forgot me…. i-it was like I didn't exist."
The brown-haired boy shuttered, remembering the time the startling and heartbreaking event had happened to him.
"It's like you evaporate…. like you're suddenly n-nothing." The word nothing came out choked and struggled as the boy fought hard to keep emotion from his voice.
"Switch," Dylan began, extending a pale, slender hand and intertwining his fingers with that of his shaken friend, "i-it's ok, as long as someone," the violet-eyed boy pointed upward to the name, or rather, false name of the only person who mattered would be, "remembers us, it's ok." He embraced Switch in a hug, tears silently leaking out of their eyes for their sad, long-ago fates.
"Dude," Switch began shakily, mentally preparing himself to do something very un-emo, "I-I l-like lo-love you." The line seemed familer, like he'd said it in a previous life. He smirked to himself, the strange thought bringing him comfort and an unexcepted rush of confidence.
Dylan's eyes widened, taking in what Switch had said. He couldn't believe it…. the one thing he'd wished for for so long was coming true! He smiled, swiftly closing the gap between him and Switch.
Two weeks later, the two were at a mall. They'd recently discovered they could play pranks on people, as they couldn't be seen, and were fully exploiting this.
Dylan was in the middle of teasing some children with a levitating stuffed animal, when a sharp, seemingly demanding mew drew his attention to pet store. Distracted now, the goth let the toy fall and wandered over.
Once inside the small store, his attention was immediately drawn to three small kittens. They looked up at him owlishly. A black kitten with red streaks and mismatched eyes was playfully wrestling with a brown kitten. Dylan smirked, the kittens looked somehow familiar.
Switch joined Dylan after the goth called him over and the two wound up adopting the kittens. They also adopted a small kitten, a girl, hiding in a small, dark corner after she bounded up to them, licking them and mewing in delight. They were happy they'd found each other and that someone remembered them.
