Hello everyone... and you, Steve. You know what you did.
This came to me in a sudden spark of inspiration while reading flavor text on items. I found it really cool that a lot of items hinted at a more meaningful or deep back story. So, I'm going to pick probably 3 different items for every chapter and write a little blurb to expand on them a bit. If all goes well, they'll be cool and eye opening. Or something. I don't know.
NOTE: THESE ARE NOT CANON! Most of the things that I write didn't actually happen, they're just set in an event that did.
I don't own Destiny. Or Bungie. Or Word, for that matter.

"Child asked me if I was a clock. I said yes. I was keeping time until the world would be safe for her"
Tick tock.
The forces of darkness push against our walls. The Vex out on Venus, the Hive on the moon and right here, the Fallen continue to batter our defenses. But the Titans let no enemy through.
"Daddy said you're a Guardian" says a child with a look of wide-eyed wonder. The child is standing with her family, close to the eastern wall. Explosions shake the ground. The six fronts are still holding.
"Yes, I'm a Guardian," I respond with a friendly smile.
The girl frowns. "Daddy says all Guardians are clocks, that when you're gone the clock stops. Are you a clock?"
"Yes," I say, and look out beyond the wall. "I'm keeping time until the world is safe for you."
The child shuffles up to me and gives me a blanket. "It will keep you safe," she explains. I thank her and shoo her inside with her family. I say my farewells. Back to the wall with me.
Tick tock.
The Battle of the Six Fronts was bloody. After the final Dreg fell I remember collapsing from exhaustion, and looking at the blanket the child gave me. It was blue, with yellow wavy stripes along its length. I remember it like it was yesterday. And I suppose while I wear this cloak, it will be yesterday for a long time.
Until the world is safe for her.
Tick tock.

"Rumor has it he came too close to understanding the Vex"
The Vanguard are blind.
How could they not see what is plainly written in troop movements and deployments? How, in their infinite wisdom, have they missed the purpose of their path so completely?
The Speaker is ignorant.
He, the true Speaker for the Traveler, who's senses failed to find meaning in their warpath. Has the Traveler not told him of their plans? Of course not. The Traveler is dead.
The Vex are ready.
Oh, how they will destroy the City. Once they awaken Quria, it will be all over. When the Speaker fails to see this, when the Vanguard fail to stop it, all will be settled. And when Guardian and Vex clash, one name will be heard over all.
Osiris. Let it be known that I foresaw this day.
Atheon was only the beginning.

"A brilliant spark of the Traveler's Light"
It was a point. A pinprick of brilliance among the dark. And when she picked it up she felt rejuvenated, cleansed of the Darkness that seeped in through her armor. The Light was with her.
And with that knowledge she burned a path through her enemies, a maelstrom of Arc energy, always moving, never fading. Through it all, the Hive shot and shot and shot but she kept coming, smashing through enemy lines as thoroughly as through the skulls of the Alcolytes. Other Guardians followed her advance, until it stopped. The unstoppable force, met by the immovable object. The object was Crota. He picked up Wei by the head and ran her through with His Light-eating sword.
Everything stopped. Wei Ning hit the ground. The unstoppable force. The mote of Light was extinguished.
But the Darkness can never extinguish us all.
