Okay, so I know this has been inactive for like...seven years, but whatever.
So...basically what's up is that I came up with this idea when I was younger, and was never satisfied with how it was written. I tried to rewrite it a couple of times and never quite managed to finish it.
This is currently the final version of the first chapter, I just got a review for this story a while ago and was like..."Whoa, people still read this?" so I figured that even if just for that one person, I might as well give you guys what I've got.
I hope you like it!
Please leave a review and let me know! Basically everything has changed...so...yeah!

October 5th was a beautiful day.
The sun was shining in a clear blue sky, and the leaves on the trees had turned from green to vibrant orange and yellow, dark red. The air was crisp and fresh with the smell of fall.
It truly was a beautiful day Detective Ichigura thought, a perfect day. The perfect day for this, he thought as he walked along the sidewalk.
Oh, how long he had waited for this, years. No, more than that, his whole carrier, his whole life possibly. And now, it was finally happening. How perfect, he thought, it was all just so perfect. He heard the buzzing of Detective Yuri muttering in his ear, he stopped at the crosswalk, waiting patiently.
Just then a black sedan with tinted windows came to a stop next to him. He tried to keep a straight face, he really did, but as he glanced over at the sedan he couldn't help but smirk. Soon, within minutes actually, he would finally get him.
The Forth, as he was known, was the current leader of one of the highest ranking yakuza gangs. Ichigura had spent years gathering enough information to charge him with. Months planning the entire set up, and now, it was finally happening. His breath caught in his throat as he waited for the light to change, seeing out of the corner of his eye his men strategically placed around the intersection. Knowing that he finally had him. There was no escape route now, no way to wiggle out of this. This was it, this was what he had been waiting for, this was the last-
But detective Ichigura's thoughts and aspirations were cut short as a piece of flaming metal hit him hard in the chest and his mind went blank. The black sedan that had sat so patiently in front of him waiting for the green light now emitted a light of its own. Flames consuming the car. Screams filled the streets, and thick black smoke billowed.
Yet all Ichigura could think of as he swam in and out of consciousness, was that he had gotten away…one last time. And then Detective Ichigura finally lost consciousness, slipping away.
October 5th was a nice day.
To nice outside for the events that had happened Hinata Hyuga thought to herself as she glanced out the open window at the blue sky beyond. The news had come in the form of a phone call, an unknown number to Shino's cell phone. His hesitant answer of "hello…?" was greeted with a crackle of silence. Shino's sudden gasp, a strange choking sound followed. The phone was snapped shut in an instant. His tense body, eyes shielded behind dark glasses, head bowed, expression hidden. Hinata sat stock still, waiting for some reaction, but it never came…
"Shino…?" Her tentative hand reached out, soft and delicate looking. For the briefest moment she touched his arm. For a moment it seemed as if everything would be okay.
But the sound of the slap that filled the quiet room brought them all back to reality.
"Shuichi's dead." Shino's tortured voice came, higher pitched than normal and hoarse, he stood suddenly. Hands curled into fists and began to pace back and forth.
Hinata said nothing, tears threatening to spill from her pearly eyes, her hand clutched to her chest.
Kiba, who had so far been quiet, averted his eyes to the television.
Footage of the flaming car filed the screen, firefighters scurrying around in the background, a pretty woman with dyed blond hair stood in front of the camera listing off numbers.
"So far the police investigators have counted four killed, and ten injured, it is suspected that two of those killed were Sabaku No Iwao better known as the Forth, the leader of a prominent yakuza gang from Suna, and his chosen protégée Aburame Shuichi. So far it seems that no civilians were hurt…"
Kiba's warm brown eyes were filled with pain as he exchanged a glance with Hinata. Shino had taken refuge sinking down into the corner, his head between his knees. Muffled sobs racking his entire body.
Hinata made a move to stand, but Kiba clutched her hand, holding her back.
"Don't. Let him be Hinata."
"But Kiba…?" Her voice just barely above a whisper, made so only her friend could hear. "Who's going to tell the children…?"
The warm brown eyes looked troubled but he shook his head, "Let's just not think about that now Hina," and as if some unspoken meaning passed between the two, they both turned their eyes towards their friend, crying softly, hidden from view in the corner.
The funeral was held a few weeks later serendipitously on the same day as the Fourth's. In the past few weeks' rumors had been spread that it was an opposing yakuza gang that had planted the car bomb.
In light of the attack it was said that the Fourth's youngest son had taken his place. Everything had remained the same. With the death of the Fourth, he had been easily replaced. Time moved on without a blip it seemed.
A waste, Hinata thought as she slipped into a black dress. They had killed someone dear, someone loved, for nothing it seemed. The picture of the three of them stood on her dresser, young, happy, and oblivious to the pain of war, the fear of death. Shino, standing next to her with a smile on his face, one that she feared she might not see again…
The funeral went smoothly, despite the smell of whiskey on Mr. Aburame, despite the tears the flowed from the children's eyes, despite the arrival of the Fourth's family who arrive in masses to pay their respects. Despite it all, it went well, as well as a funeral can go, and Hinata watched.
Watched and waited as the Sabaku's gathered around Shino, talking with their heads close together. It only lasted a few minutes, but a few minutes was enough.
Hinata was livid, they may have roped in Shuichi, but they would not get Shino. She would not allow it. She caught a glimpse of the red haired boy whose picture had been on the news and felt a shiver run through her. Her eyes opened wide as she recognized him. She knew him.
He went to their school; he was the new boy in her math class. He had tried to talk to her the other day before Kiba had intervened. And then suddenly the livid anger she had felt before turned to fear.
That damn boy knew who she was, he knew who Shino was, he knew Kiba.
Shit, she thought as he made eye contact with her and smiled.
Shit…
So...review? Please?
