I never expected it to be this hard, but she was different. I could just walk up to her and ask her, could I? No, she was special I would have to do something amazing to make her say yes. Even I, James Sirius Potter, understood that I could use the "potter charm" as my mum calls it. It didn't work on Alexis.

Alexis wood had been my best friend since first year, when she barged into my compartment on the train and demanded that she sit with me. Ever since that we've basically become twins. We talk at the same time and know exactly what the others thinking. But are mind reading skills couldn't fix this. Of course I didn't really want to fix this. It be confusing but shes my best friend, it's hard to be in love with your best friend.

I'd noticed last year, our fifth year, that she was gorgeous. She had always been pretty, i just never realized. I also found myself jealous even if i saw just one boy talking to her. I would watch as she studied in the Library. Afraid even that if tried to talk to her, my best friend, that I'd blurt out an "I love you" and she'd reject me.

A few weeks ago, at Christmas, Aunt Hermione and Uncle Ron told us there story. How they had been best friends that had fallen in love. How they hadn't noticed it for years. I figured if it was so easy for them, why not me.

That leads me to today, March 14th 2:16 pm. Shes sitting outside by the lake reading as I watch from behind a big tree. Then she turns and sees me.

"James! Why are you hiding?" she asked.

"Un... No,um ...no reason," I recovered slowly.

"Jamey, whats wrong?" she asked noticing how I was avoiding her eyes.

I walked over and sat on the rock next her, staring out of the corner of my eye as her long, wavy, blond air flouted in the breeze. "Nothin," I mumbled hoping she wouldn't ask more questions.

She Didn't

"Good because, I have something to tell you," she announced putting her book down beside her.

"What?"

"I love you," before I could respond she kissed me.

Turns out I didn't have to something spectacular to tell Alexis that I loved her, she did it for me.

The End
