Amelia shivered as she walked through the darkness. It was a cold night and on top of it, it was Halloween of all days. She didn't usually spook easy but walking alone on this night of all nights had her feeling a bit perturbed.

"Come on," she muttered as she tried calling her boyfriend again. "Pick up!"

Once again it went to voicemail as it had for the entire walk home.

"Where are you?" She asked lowly.

She knew she was putting false hope in her head. Even if she managed to get a hold of him, he wasn't exactly there to help if something was to happen. He would just be a voice in her ear. She shook her head and giggled. What could possibly happen? She was alone on the road. Or so she thought. Up until now she hadn't seen anyone but now she felt it. Someone or something was near, behind her, following her.

"It's all in your head," she whispered. "All in your head."

Although she tried to convince herself of that, she still chose to look behind her. Someone really was there. Or something. She wasn't sure if it was a person or a thing. It was tall, wearing a black suit and the body sure looked like someone. It was the face that looked like something. It was white and with no features.

"No way!" She gasped. "You're not real! Slenderman isn't real!"

She stopped and gawked but the thing just continued towards her at the same pace. She snapped out of her trance, realizing it probably wasn't the best idea to just stand there and wait for him or it to come up to her. She spun around and started running. Tears started rolling as she heard it start running too.

"Leave me alone!" She screamed.

It had seemed like a good idea to move to the countryside without any neighbours back in May but now on this October night, this Halloween, she cursed herself for ever suggestion it to her boyfriend in the first place. No one was around to help her.

She started sprinting as fast as she could when she saw their house. She sprinted up the driveway while getting the keys out of her pocket. She reached the door and moved her hand towards the keyhole, only to drop the keys when a hand landed on her shoulder. She spun around and came face to face with that white faceless man or thing, and then she closed her eyes and screamed.

"Amelia!" She knew that voice.

She opened her eyes to see him pull off the mask and was met with a shit eating grin from her boyfriend.

"Dean?" She asked.
"Gotcha!" He laughed.
"You're a fucking idiot! You nearly gave me a heart attack," she said.
"Payback from last year with your white lady prank. I nearly shit myself," he said.
"I got you good," she remembered.
"You did," he chuckled. "And now we're even."
"Until next year," she smirked.
"I can see the wheels inside your head are already turning," he said.
"Already planning the ultimate revenge," she said.

A/N:
Happy Halloween, everyone!

I actually planned on writing this last year but I never got around to do it and instead ended up with creating "The one night of the year" for last year's Halloween so this story has been over a year in the making.

Thank you to everyone that reads, follows, favourites and especially reviews my work. It always means so much to get a bit of feedback even if it's only a few words.
