A/n: This is possibly just a one-shot. I'm not sure if I will add more.
Silent Watcher.
I watched them silently, my eyes following their every move, my ears listening to their laughter. Such sweet laughter they had! I smiled warmly down at them, wishing to join them to roll around in the leaves as they did. But I could not; I couldn't betray my family, so hidden I remained in the leaves of the giant oak.
I laughed as one tackled the other onto the leaves. Both of them slowly looked to the tree in which I sat, and for the briefest of moments, I feared that they had heard me, that they could see me. But I needn't worry; they tried to find me but could not and gave up on their search going back to their childlike banter.
Children, which was what they were, two twin brothers. So young, so innocent, so free, they were unaware of the evil tidings, the rumor of war, unaware of the danger that they may face. I saw great potential in them, warriors they both would become. I stayed there, in my tree, watching them with a smile as they tumbled about in the leaves wrestling.
Soon, though, another man came. Tall and lithe was he, hair as dark as his children, eyes deep and gentle. 'Elladan. Elrohir.' He called to them; his voice soft and musical, and his children went to him with squeals of happiness.
He picked both up, each in an arm, and turned to leave. I sighed and he looked up to my tree, he looked at me and smiled a knowing smile. He knew I watched over his children, and knew I would continue to do so even as they grew older. I smiled back as he turned away and left to go back into his beautiful Elven home.
I would forever watch the dark haired twins, I would be their guardian, and I would give them hope when all seemed lost.
'Yes.' I thought, 'I will watch over them till the end of time itself.'
