Rapunzel
If you were to walk one day
Through an ancient wood we'll say
And come into a clearing where
A tower stood lacking door and stair,
For this is what a prince once did
Though he jumped into a bush and hid
For entering the clearing came
A wicked magic wielding dame.
To the tower she sidled up
She cleared her throat and shouted up,
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel!" Came the call,
A river of gold came down the wall.
The gold belonged to a maiden fair,
It was in actual fact her hair.
The witch then used it as a rope,
The prince idly wondered how she'd cope.
He waited 'till she'd been and gone,
Then his golden moment shone,
He stood beneath the window pane
And called the lovely maiden's name.
The golden locks cascaded down,
He rolled his sleeves and donned his crown.
He hauled himself up to the top
Where through the window he did hop.
He stumbled and nearly fell back out
For this maiden was fair without a doubt.
With golden hair and sky blue eyes,
She was to him like sugar to flies.
A heartbeat later the two were in love,
A love more pure than the whitest dove
Though this of course was not to be
As you very soon shall see
For feeling something was amiss
The witch returned with a dreadful hiss
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Let down your hair!"
This startled and frightened the loving pair
"Oh golly! Whatever shall we do?
I've no ideas so how 'bout you?"
"If you let her climb your hair
I'll cut it with scissors that I bear."
So down the golden locks did fall,
The witch began to scale the wall
But nearly there her eyes went wide,
She tumbled down the tower side
And as they watched from up on high,
The prince and maiden gave a sigh
But their relief lived only short
As suddenly there came a thought
"Well this is very good and stuff,
But if we want to leave it's tough!"
Rapunzel said in deep despair,
Now without her rope-like hair.
But the prince did not have dampened hope
For from his pack he produced a rope.
The two then lived in perfect peace
They even went to live in Greece
Where they now own a barbers shop
It's called the Tower's Golden Chop.
