In the beginning, there was only beast and man,

Created and placed there by the gods.

Man lived in fear and seclusion

The evil beings reigned savage, feral, and untamed

Vicious creatures, they were

Knowing not but to hunt, kill, and spread.

Fear- wrenching monsters, never hesitating, ever unmerciful

Eventually, Man had enough

They rose up, fighting with everything the had

For many years, they waged a bloody war against the beasts

After many dark years, there came a champion

Empowered by those on a higher plain, he fought

Undefeated, he pushed the enemy of man back.

At every battle, he led the charge.

For many battles, he went unaided, but victorious.

These were his greatest fights, for he no one but himself to be concerned with

He created mountains, tore large gouges from the earth,

and formed mighty craters when he missed.

At last, the last of the wild devils lay, defeated, at the feet of the champion.

With a fearsome blow, the final demon of the earth died.

Man, in their joyful celebrations, praised their hero,

Singing ballads of his life, wrote epics of his battles, and painted paintings of his deeds.

Because they believed he deserved no less.
