And the One time Bones left him.
I.
Bones let out a slightly strangled noise when Jim crawled out of their bed. "Kid?" He asked softly, his sleep adled brain slightly confused.
Jim turned to him with a sorrowful look, "I have to get back to mine and Spock's room. He gets off of Gamma shift in twenty minutes" He said apologetically. He pressed a kiss to Leonard's forehead. "I'll be back before you know it" He said softly, before dressing and leaving Leonard alone with his thoughts.

Jim pulled out of Leonard's embrace when his communicator beeped. He unclipped it from his belt and flipped it open, to Spock's voice. "Jim, You have been gone twelve point five four minutes longer than you said.." The almost monotonous voice said. Jim smiled slightly. "I'll be there shortly" He said. You could almost hear the smile in Spock's voice, "I await your return T'hy'la"
And Jim left again. This time Leaving Bones half broken hearted.

Bones let out a relieved sigh when Jim finally came to on the biobed. "You scared the shit outta me kid..." He murmured after a moment. He felt Jim's hand on his cheek and smiled. Their lips touched for the breifest of moments, and when Jim pulled away, Leonard felt his heart sink. "I've got to go see Spock." At the hobgoblins name, the doctor's blood boiled.
And for the last time. Jim left.

Leonard shook his head. "I can't kid. I'm sorry." He said softly, as the blonde clung to him. "But Bones.. You said you'd always be there for me" he murmured, his voice wavering.
Bones felt himself smile ruefully. "And you said the same thing... And yet everytime.. You left me for the hobgoblin" He said and at Jim's shocked face just shook his head. "I can't keep waiting for you to stay with me Jim. I just can't." He said after a few more moments. "I'm sorry" We're the last two words he said, before he peeled himself away from Jim, and walked away, not looking back.
Nyota met him at the door with a soft smile. "You did what you had to do Len." She said softly, and he bent to kiss her cheek. "I know darlin'. And... I feel like I'll be happier this way." He said with a small smile.
