Broken Heart

"Hey Pj, could you sit down, please?"

"Sure. What's up?"

"We need to talk."

He sat down at the table with me, and reached for my hands, squeezing them. He looked at me, dead in the eye, and that's when I knew, in the back of my head, something wasn't right.

"We've been together for a while, and I really do love you. However, I just, I can't feel anything anymore. I think we should see other people."

I stared at him in shock. He was breaking up with me!

"What about what we had planned? We were going to get a house, and get married, and have kids."

"I'm sorry Pj, I really am."

"I still want to be friends though." He said hurriedly. I ripped my hands from his and stood up, the chair crashing onto the floor.

"You still want to be friends?! You're breaking up with me, but you love me, and you want to be friends?! No!"

"Pj…"

"No Chris! Just, go away!"

"I really…"

I slammed my fists on the table, and I saw Chris jump out of the corner of my eye.

"I don't want to see you right now. I think it's best if you just leave." I said through gritted teeth.

The chair scrapped against the tiles, and Chris walked out the door, shutting it on the way out.

I picked the chair up from the floor, and sat down in it. I put my elbows on the table and placed my head in my hands. Silent tears streaked down my face.

Chris walked out of Pj's house, silently walking home.

He'll be fine. He's just a bit upset now, in the end this is the best thing. There's no point in me claiming I love him and lying to both him and myself. He'll find someone else, someone better. It's just going to take some time. He'll thank me later, I'm sure of it.

Chris's thoughts sounded unsure even to himself.
