Serena did not cry often.

In fact, she never really did. Sure, she had been sad before, but had never felt obliged to actually cry.

When Serena left for boarding school, she did not cry. When she thought about leaving her dearest Nate, she did not cry. When she returned to the Upper East Side, she did not cry. Nor did she cry when she found out Blair was not interested in continuing their friendship.

Serena did not cry often.

Her tears were considered sacred, a special, rare thing. Everyone longed to see Serena cry, to see a delicate tear roll down her cheek. But didn't they know? Couldn't they see?

Serena did not cry often.

What could cause her to cry? She had it all, didn't she? Or could no one see the actual Serena? The real Serena? The pure, clean, true Serena.

Serena did not cry often.

On this day, the Upper East Side saw Serena cry. She did not cry in joy, nor did she cry in sadness. Serena cried simply because she could. The beautiful, intricate, immaculate tears rolled down her left and right cheeks.

Serena did not cry often, but when Serena's tears fell from her troubled navy eyes, they could see a pure, clean, true Serena.

Serena did not cry often.

A/N: I hope you liked this, please review. I know Serena's Tears is the name of the perfume Les Best released in the books, but I thought it was a good idea for a oneshot. Thanks xD
