Holding her breath, Sakura entered the graveyard. The moon shone down, bathing everything in a pale blue glow. In her ghostly hands she held a single, ghostly white flower.
Slightly nervous, she started down the path. There were names here, names of the ones she had loved and lost, names she had known all her life…
"They loved me, they loved me not…" Sakura began in a whisper, walking past the rows of tombstones, and with each name she passed, she plucked a pale petal off the flower, letting it float down upon the grave.
Nara Shikamaru
Akimichi Chouji
Yamanaka Ino
They had fought beside her in those crucial moments, defended her…
"They loved me, they loved me not…"
Uzumaki Naruto
Hyuuga Hinata
Hyuuga Neji
Her obnoxious friend and the two cousins, who had passed on important information on Orochimaru to their side…
"They loved me, they loved me not…" As Sakura continued through the rows, she saw more and more familiar names, and with each, more white petals fell down.
Aburame Shino
Tenten
Rock Lee
The heroes! Those who had fought so gallantly against Orochimaru's supporters and guards, and had almost broken through…
"They loved me, they loved me not…" Sakura could feel her throat tightening at the next names and she let more white petals rain down…
Might Guy
Umino Iruka
Hatake Kakashi
It took every fiber in her body not to start crying again at these inscriptions. These had fought valiantly, against Orochimaru himself. Those teachers that had taught her so much… Especially Kakashi, who had almost started to seem like another parent outside home -- who had cared for team seven, protected them, trained them, fought alongside them…
"They loved me, they loved me not, they --"
Her throat caught. She had finally arrived. Her eyes widened and her legs collapsed beneath her
Uchiha Sasuke.
The boy that she had loved, the boy that had finally brought an end to the war.
Orochimaru was dead because of him, but he had taken the boy's life with him…
Slowly, with her eyes fixed on the grave in front of her, her right hand rose to pluck the last petal of the flower.
Softly, gently, fluttering and rising on every faintest breath of air, the white petal spiraled down to earth.
She had the answer.
"…You loved me?"
That was all she had ever wanted to know. In that moment, the moonlit graveyard seemed almost welcoming, and Sakura, finally unable to restrain her tears, wished that she was sleeping in the earth with her Sasuke.
Fin.
